Really disliked the ending... was telegraphed and cliche.

Felt like this movie just sort of lost itself towards the end. Billions died because of that girl's selfish decision.

Well, not every movie has a "good" ending. But I get what you mean. I don't think it felt all that satisfying. Maybe it wasn't meant to.

Illustrates the duality of the girl.

She fed her zombie people, they stopped chasing live ones and live one's stopped killing zombie people.

You could say she helped both sides.

I agree..

I mean, they do set you up for this though; since they reference the scorpion and the frog story explicitly, as well as demonstrate these children are still zombies (although they can somewhat control it). But how this betrayal ultimately happens is just ... you walk away from the film thinking they would have been better off killing all of these children -- and that the doctor was right the entire time.

I'm not sure if that's really the ethical narrative the filmmakers were intending to put forward .. or .. was it just a twist for it's own sake?

I'm not sure I would agree with the bolded.

She killed all of humanity... she literally ended the world as we know it and in doing so, billions of people died as a result of her decision.

Or rather, they all became zombies, right?

She says, "Why should we all die to save you?"

Truthfully, I obviously was on the doctor's side... :chuckle: Because fuck that I don't want no zombie civilization. But I understood the dilemma they were going for. I can empathize with the girl (I already forgot her name) in that sense.

Well remember, she has no affinity whatsoever to the adult zombies; it's only to the zombies that are "Second Generation".. So anyone not presently in utero, is totally fucked; even a newborn baby, they're all fucked. Only fetuses are protected. So the "we" in her argument is with respect to fetuses that would survive and burrow their way out of their mothers as a result of the infection.

The rest of us, i.e. 99.99999% of the population, would just be braindead fodder, left in a state worse than death.

But yeah man, fuck that kid... She deserved a bullet.. :chuckle:

I loved how the Sergeant was just like, "oh, you just ended the world? Shit, damn, okay, okay, I need you to kill me. Don't wanna go out like this. See ya!" No anger at all, lol.

:chuckle: My thoughts exactly! :chuckle:

With movie pass i'm seeing a lot more movies that I otherwise wouldn't see, and as long as you don't go into every film expecting Citizen Kane then you can have a good time.

I watched Tomb Raider yesterday. It wasn't a great or very good movie, but I wasn't bored. So that probably makes it the greatest movie of all time that is based on a videogame.

I'll be curious to see how well it's adapted. I kinda got tired of the forced 80s references in the book...almost too many. We'll see how it goes.
It's very very different. Speilberg rewrote nearly all the keys and added some more the IOI are a bit more bad and I'm hoping they bring some sort or impact of the whole thing into the real world. My only criticism of the book was he won all this stuff but the shithole world was still screwed

Yeah I liked ready player one. I think it's better resolved than the book but overall I like the books puzzles better. But it's a beautiful world he's made and there are so many layers to the pop culture
