Ray Rice suspended & cut - trouble for Goodell?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
...such a 'force of good' that they held onto that video until the season started. Letting Rice go so far as to be a week from being activated.

Smart move by them, though. They released it at a time when it would get the maximum publicity and do the most damage to the NFL to boot.

So let me know when the Browns trade Terrance West for a Baltimore first rounder. We are the Browns... we have a reputation to uphold...

So back when the suspension was announced people would have been cool with this? I would think that the maximum publicity would have been back when it first came to light. No, this was done to push TMZ. They did this for THEIR maximum publicity, waiting until everything had died down and they would have the spotlight on them for releasing this.

Obviously they did it for their own benefit. I was arguing just that. I don't think anyone is actually under any delusions that TMZ released this out of the goodness of their hearts. They're TMZ. They don't have hearts.

It's also possible that they didn't obtain the video until recently.

Did I hear correctly that the hotel was closed recently?

Would this suggest that the hotel just got wind that the video was in possession of TMZ?

My understanding is that they said they have had this for awhile. My point is, though, that just because they paid someone to get this doesn't make them a 'force of good' as the original Tweeter suggested. That's it. TMZ is just as self-serving as so many involved in this.

Not sure why you're quoting me then. I agree with you. :chuckle:

Ray rice already admitted to punching this woman. I dont see anything in the video that adds anything that was already known.
its essentially new ecvidence supports what was already known.

Does Janay palmer lose her job as well.?. inittiating a physical fight makes her just as guilty.

She initiated a physical fight? What?

The ruling on Rice irritated me greatly during the Gordon saga. I do believe the NFL and Ravens saw the evidence before. All I can say is that I'm glad they EVENTUALLY did the right thing with Rice.

If they want to pull the "due process" card, go ahead and play it as long as this guy is out of the league a while. I'm absolutely positive the businesses threatening to pull advertising revenue and local political groups were instrumental in getting the Rice ruling reviewed, and while I can't believe I'm saying this... I think TMZ just contributed positively to our society. Wow.

I have never worked at a casino but from being in one I can tell you that you can't scratch your butt in one without it being on camera with three different angles. The NFL and the Ravens both had to know that there was video of what happened before and during the elevator ride. They let this go hoping it would blow over.

they were both arrested for assault. after the police reviewed this video.

regardless theres nothing in this video that rice hadnt already admitted to before the video was released to the public

She slapped him because he spit on her. At least, that's what it looked like in the video. Can't say I blame her for that. And she probably took some of the heat with the police intentionally to get Ray a lesser punishment. The Ravens basically threw her on the sword when the incident came to light initially, implying that she started it.
