Remembering Prince

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What a load of slanderous bullshit.

Yeah if was hooked on fentanyl patches AND Dilaudid the percocet would have been peeing in the ocean for him. More likely that hip injury was preventing him from performing like he wanted to and he took too many. Growing old sucks I can tell you and for a guy like Prince the frustration was probably higher

Prince wrote and played all of the instruments on the Time albums, then had Morris do the singing.

At first, yes. But the strings of The Time were Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who wrote/produced for Janet Jackson, Usher, Mariah Carey, and others. They were under Prince's talent level in the early 80s, but became great under his tutelage.

I should just start a Jeri Curl Oriented Rock thread...

My international business strategy professor worked with Prince.. He's got some amazing stories.

He also implied we're going to hear a lot of fucking Prince music and that not releasing it was a business strategy to provide for his estate when he passed

The rumor is that he has enough songs to release albums for years to come. A ridiculous amount of songs that he recorded.

That, and he hated the Internet. He didn't like how royalties are paid now, with no one buying albums, iTunes basically setting the price of all music, the even worse royalties from subscription services, the creativity robbers, etc. Prince thought it was a fad that would fade- which it wasn't. The man wasn't exactly logical. The good news is it means his estate will no doubt not worry about that, take what they can and start releasing his stuff.

Just saw Purple Rain in the theater. Fantastic.

I did not know it until today, but Prince also wrote this:

I missed being able to see it again in theaters unless they extend the run. I became a lifelong Prince fan the day that movie was released. Got th ere early, they played the soundtrack while waiting for the movie to start. Heard it once then, then saw the movie and was hooked.

Good news! They have extended the run. It was limited to AMC or Cinemark for a week. It is now in general release in all theater chains. I'm sure there is a place showing it near you.

I saw it in a theater that just started carrying it that day, Regal Cinemas.

Not sure how long they are doing it, but Sirius/xm has 24 hour Prince tribute going on. I've listed he last half hour and it's really comprehensive and not just the hits on a loop.
