I'm not sure if people realize just how popular Prince was in the 80s and first half of the 90s.

In the 1980s, Prince charted with more songs (26) and had more weeks on the charts (378) than anyone else. He followed that up in the 90s by charting with 19 songs for 216 total weeks, most of this was 1990-1994.

Purple Rain the album was #1 for 26 consecutive weeks and the week the movie was released he had the #1 single, #1 album and #1 movie
 
does anyone want me to keep posting songs? I was trying to give a cross section of his catalog and not just post the hits. It's unclear how long the songs will be on you tube, some I've posted have been taken down.

I'd be interested.

Can't wait to hear his vaulted music. I know a lot of my friends have been talking about how they didn't really know that much about him and have really enjoyed the music that they've been hearing lately since he passed.

Wouldn't be surprised if these new albums do some pretty serious numbers.
