Rep point abuse

I am not going to expose the user doing this, but I will say that if the abuse continues, I WILL REMOVE the reputation points feature.

I have noticed people giving others negitive rep points "just for fun". I even recieved negitve rep points "just for fun". Well it needs to stop.

Keep in mind that I can visually see every comment made to each member. I will just say that it is really immature to do such a thing. I don't care if you don't like person or not, or you think it your doing it just be be funny. Please use the reputation feature in a mature manner or they will be vanished.

i admit i gave infante a negative rep point for being cocky.. but that's the only negative post i ever gave...

Can you just remove the negative part to the rep points? Outside of Eayor, I don't think people really use the negative thing. If it's causing a problem, just disable that, or give the power exclusively to mods. I know if I see a horrible idea/post from someone, I'd just reply and express my opinion rather than just give them negative rep. Rep should be positive only. And, if they cross a certain line, mods should have the power to penalize the rep power.

Thats a great idea lyxo. Unfortunatly there is no way to disable negitive reps. I don't think anyone is going to abuse the rep point feature any longer. I have been monitoring it everyday, and now its running smooth.

Rep points are just points given to people who have done good posting or bringing in members or something contributing to Real Cavs Fans. It's really just getting respect, the more points you have the more respect you will get throughout RCF.

Whats the difference between Rep Points and Rep Power?

Points are given, power is earned by how many posts you have i believe.

Rep power is the amount of points you give.

Example:

If I give Mandingo rep points, I am giving him 22 points (rep power)

Rep power is added by the number of posts you have and how long you have been a member.

1 Rep power is also added for every 50 rep points you earn.

1 Rep power point is also added every 30 days for being an RCF member.



The points that tally up will show with the little green Icon. Every 100 points you earn, you recieve another green icon.

Take a look at Karma, he is well over 200 rep points.

well personally... ppl will respect you if you post good posts, and if the ideas are clear and sumtimes humorious. i dont respect ppl due to the # of posts, b/c they can be 1 liners and flooding ect. but as far as the whole point thing, its kinda gimmicky... lol

The rep system does not do well for most communities. Fact is, it makes some feel left out and it creates conflicts between members, esp. if you have a younger immature crowd like this site, which is not a knock.
