RGIII: Hardly Knew Thee

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Interesting move. I really hope (and assume) that he's going to be the stopgap QB instead of McCown now, while Goff/Wentz waits on the sidelines for a couple of years.

If that's the case (the Browns still taking a QB at 2), I see this as a low risk/high reward move.

There is no way you draft a QB at 2 with RG3 on board. Not saying he is a long term fix, but you cant bring in that type of competition with RG3. He couldnt even handle Kirk Cousins as his back up.

The one positive about this trade is maybe Griffin can bring Gordon back to Earth.
I'll bet you a billion trillion dollars that they do.

Don;t mind it at all, just have zero expectations. Hope they still take a QB at 2, which I believe they will. Hopefully it works out though!

Then why bring in RG3? To teach how many steps not to take on a 5 step drop? The day you draft a QB is the day you piss RG3 off.

You bring him in to see if riding the pine has humbled him enough to learn how to become a pocket passer. Dude has arm strength.

to hedge their bets as much as they can?

Both RG3 and the Browns know this is likely a bridge QB deal, but has optionality to be something more if he blows the doors off. Browns get a stop gap. RG3 gets a real chance to compete for the starting job, and he stays in the league for 2 more years. Everyone's cards are on the table.

Yes you can.

Who fucking cares about RG3 feelings?

He's a bridge QB. Maybe he can revive his career and prove he's worthy of playing QB in the league. Then we can flip him for a pick later.

I'd rather him as a bridge QB than grandpa McCown, so that alone makes this a fine move in my eyes.

Great signing. I really don't see any downside here.

Bought as low as you could on a very talented QB who needs coaching in the worst possible way.

Will likely still draft a very talented QB at #2.

Are people really going to complain about having competition/too much talent at the QB position?

A+ on my end.

Nothing's ever been given to him in his life. Man he really gets Cleveland.
