Im actually really pissed about Redd being out for the year. Great play and a great person, whose gonna lose out on his chance to be in the playoffs this year.

But all Bucks fans now think its definite that RJ will be traded, and I read a few of their message board things, and nearly all think Cleveland is the most likely destination, saying either Wally for RJ straight up or adding in a 1st round pick would be decent deals for them.

To me, the idea of Jefferson is pretty similar to Gerald Wallace. Both are SFs really, who can both play the 2 and 4 efficiently as well.

Jefferson is a pretty solid defender, has always been around average from outside but is shooting close to 40% from 3 this year, very strong going to the hole, average ball handler, decent rebounder, seems to have a great attitude and definitely wouldnt mind being a 2nd or 3rd option. Contract runs through to 2011 I think, but hes only 28 and seems to be improving every year.

The only problem I see is if he could start at the 2 or if hed have to come off the bench like Gerald Wallace probably would. I think Wallace would definitely accept a Manu Ginobili role, but I dunno about Jefferson. He seems to have a winning attitude but Im not sure if hed accept a limited role or not.

One things sure though, Jefferson's value is petty damn low right now and will be traded strictly for expiring contracts, and hes not even playing badly at all. So if we're looking for an impact player who won't cost much, this could be the answer.

Even though he's only shooting .427% from the field, I wouldn't mind getting Jefferson at all. I think he will make an excellent fit. He gives us great size at the 2, he's a decent shooter and good slasher. And he has been a second option many times before. His contract is somewhat expensive and runs through 2011, but I think that adding Jefferson will bring us a 'ship.

Jefferson doesn't have a very high value right now. Maybe we could snag Mike Allen from them by sending a draft pick their way. It would give us another big body with veteran experience.

I agree he might be a fit but I doubt he was ever on Danny Boy's radar prior to Redd getting hurt. Since I assume that Danny has been working the phones pretty hard the last few weeks and probably has a few possibilities in the works, I am not intriqued by how this might all play out. Is Jefferson a better option than Wallace, for example, since he seems to be the player most closely linked to the CAVs but would likely require a 3-way deal. Better than the Miller(s)?

What of the "news" from RealGM ticker than both Richard Jefferson AND Villaneuva are available.. I've been thinking of what offer we could make to get both in a package, maybe Wally+Pavs+1st but it just seems so lopsided it's disgusting. But with that said, ESPN is reporting that the Bucks are actively trying to ship out Villaneuva (why??! and for what?)

Could it be possible to not only land RJ, but this young big as well, in a package?

As for Villanueva, they want to get rid of him because while he can shoot the basketball, he doesn't play with any toughness and can't play defense. Right now I see him almost as the big man version of Larry Hughes attitude-wise. Ok, that might be exaggerating a little, but you see where I'm coming from.

As for RJ, I'd imagine the Blazers would offer LaFrentz + Outlaw for him. The only package we'd have that could top an expiring + Outlaw would be an expiring + JJ, and that would probably be for RJ and Villanueva.

So, would you guys do Wally + JJ for Jefferson and Villanueva? What about Wally, JJ, and a first?

I like Charlie V but I his attitude does concern me. Still, he and Lebron looked sick in that McDonalds High School All-American game 7 years ago :chuckles:

If JJ is involved in any deal for RJ and Charlie V I wouldn't be interested. And I'm not sure how interested portland would be considering they're now paying Darius Miles. I heard they might let LaFrentz expire because of that, but I don't know if that has changed. I would do Sasha + Wally + 1st for RJ and CV, anything beyond that is a reach.

I don't think the CAVs want to give up JJ and if they do is there a better deal? The real question is whether Jefferson is now the best fit for the CAVs and then what would it take to get him? Would you rather give up Wally and JJ and a 1st for Jefferson and Villanueva or Wally for one of the Millers or Wally and 1st for G-Force based on some of the options currently being discussed. Best fit may not be the best value. I'm sure we could get Bosh, but the asking price would be too high.

As long as Richard Jefferson doesnt start to play like Richard Simmons, i would like the trade.

That would be an offensivelly skilled version of Larry Hughes. Larry Hughes was very good on defense. Problem was for every good defensive play, he'd put up a clanker on the rim.

As for RJ, I'd imagine the Blazers would offer LaFrentz + Outlaw for him. The only package we'd have that could top an expiring + Outlaw would be an expiring + JJ, and that would probably be for RJ and Villanueva.

Do you really think the Blazers want him? I would think they wanna be in the 2010 race.

Hell no to JJ for Jefferson. But they wouldnt even ask for that. I cant see Portland wanting him anyway.

And I doubt wed be interested in Charlie-V. Hes a nice project to have, but we're no the right team for him to grow up on. Hard to believe hes LeBron's age. Hes got the talent to be an allstar, but he just dont got what it takes mentally.

I think we could get RJ for something glike Wally and Jackson, or Wally and a pick.

Can RJ slide in to the 2 guard spot? He does defend, and has definitely improved his shooting over the years. He fg% is down to around 43% but his 3 point shooting is between 38-39%. He is a good ft shooter and can get to the basket. If it was something like Wally/1st i would definitely be up for it. I think he could be a good fit with Mo/Bron, he worked well with VC and Kidd. Also he is still only 28 years old, him and Wally's contract match up almost perfectly. I would love to see if they would be willing to throw in Elson, i like his size and toughness.

Is he a better fit than Wallace?

I think jefferson is a much better fit than wallace. Wallace really cant play the sg position and he cant shoot that well. jefferson can shoot, although his shot selection in Milwaukee has not been great, that is more of a problem with the system imo. Jeffereson has played with both Redd and VC...both all around wing players simular to lbj (especially carter) I dont think Jefferson can play pf at all, but with JJ coming around, we now have 4 big men that can give us minutes when we are healthy. That is enough and I am not sure we need to find a sf who can also play pf.

If the lakers game taught us anything, its we need bigs to guard bigs. Z's injury has allowed JJ to develop earlier than expected...and for a play off run...thats a good thing. Now if Joe Smith and his smile get bought out....thats another story.

i really think the cavs should go after RJ. he's hitting his prime at 28, only has 2 years left after this year, and has all the attributes we need in a wing player except he's not a great shooter. it also seems that other guys we sought are off the table, so let's hope we can snag RJ if we can't get a big.
also, i dont think portland wants to take on a huge contract after the d-miles situation.
