Robert Sarver and the Phoenix Suns situation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sarver is a cheap piece of garbage. He is an awful person and an awful owner. Refuses to spend money and does clown shit like putting a literal goat in the GMs office bc he wanted to "draft a goat" I cant wait til this clown is no longer owning a team and we can go back to making fun of the Kangz for trying dumb but basketball related things.

I thought it was obvious...Bernie Madoff

The fact that most of his victims were Jewish make it even worse. I am not saying everyone will understand this, especially if you are not part of a minority, but ruining the lives of so many people and your victims being in that minority is so, much worse.

Oh wait, i forgot another, probably my new number 1, Jeffrey Epstein. Child Molestation might be the most heinous crime ever, including murder.

Well crap, didnt want to find a third, but Sterling is not as horrible as Madoff or Epstein. Isnt that a fucking ridiculous standard and list?
There’s a term for what Madoff did - Affinity Fraud. In addition to the Jewish aspect he was also an insider in the financial world, highly respected, surely someone like that wouldn’t cheat anyone!

As far as racist bad guys in sports go I still put Al Campanis as the worst, because he explicitly said that black people don’t have the qualities to be managers. He had the power to hire and he disqualified at least one entire class of people (this was AFTER 3 of the first 4 black NBA coaches won rings and Frank Robinson had been our manager). It was also disgraceful because his franchise had broken the color barrier in 1947.

Donald Sterling was awful but like Sarver he did hire black execs. The focus tends to be on horrible words, which is fair, but I believe actions are even more important. I’m not saying positive actions excuse negative words; sometimes people can say all the right things but their actions tell a very different story.

For avoidance of doubt I wouldn’t work for someone like Sterling, or for Sarver if his reported words are true. Just disgusting on so many levels.

I hadn't thought of that. Considering Paul's standing with players, I wonder if he is helping get this out in the open.

Considering what James Jones and Monty Williams have said, I have serious doubt Chris Paul is helping get this out.

It took me twice as long as it should have to read this article because I had to take breaks, this stuff is so infuriating.

James Jones is a pathetic man for defending this crap. Champ? More like Tramp

Jones and Kerr (the latter whom is quite progressive in his views of how minorities and women are to be treated) both say they never saw the alleged behavior from Sarver. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean Sarver didn't act that way around other people.

There are some parallels with this and the Gruden story. It doesn't take some huge public thing anymore for men in authority to have their careers jeopardized. The jokes and private work conversations people made 20 or so years ago just aren't viewed the same anymore, and you can lose jobs over it. All just reminds me that my husband and I will let our impending son know how to handle language with minorities and women in the workplace. I know Baby Boomers and some other old fashioned traditionalist types don't like a lot of these changes, and argue that private stuff should be overlooked and people should be less sensitive over jokes/comments, but this is how the workplace and culture is now with Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z. Trying to fight against it is a losing battle. This is the way things are going now, and as the older generations lose power, we're going to see comments and behavior like this scrutinized much more closely than they were with our parents' generation.

Steve Kerr is soooo "progressive" that he named his son Nick.

Nick. Kerr.

Say that out loud (but not near a microphone).

*I'm kidding about Steve not being "progressive," and don't think he did that to his son on purpose. I do think its funny, though.

Honestly this stuff seems overblown to me. He used the N word when quoting other people who used it, not on his own? He made lewd comments about having sex with his own wife? I mean, come on. He sounds obnoxious but that is not a crime.

And he’s not a bad owner - Suns have been a highly successful contending team

You ARE being sarcastic, right???

And he badmouthed diversity once? How many other teams have both a black GM and a black coach? Cavs, who else?

And hating on Klutch is racist now? This board must be the most racist place around then

Hes a bad owner because he refuses to spend money and is too interventionist. This goes back to the joe Johnson trade, signing Marcus banks instead of paying his guys, dumping multiple picks to dodge tax, no max for ayton etc. It goes on.

Regardless of him being a garbage human, hes the 2nd worst owner in the league. At least Vivek does stuff for the community

I’ve somehow been a working adult since I was 18 and I’ve never used racial slurs at work, made sexual comments about my co workers, or talked about my sex life with subordinates. If I did, my job would fire me…even if I told them I felt like it was overblown.

Also, good luck finding a Phoenix Suns fan who will tell you that Sarver is a good owner. They are pretty gutted that he’s not forced to sell like Sterling.
