Rodney Hood: Won't be missed

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How did Hood average almost 17ppg w/Utah this year? This guy makes KLove look like an alpha. Then again, few players improve when the Cavs coaching staff gets hold of them.

I really think changing his shooting stand screwed with him hard. He basically relyed on getting half his point from 3 pointers. His 3 point attempts have been cut in half.

I've seen some people think we shouldn't resign him but if he can get his 3 point shot back to where it should be in the summer, I think we will get a good player on a team friendly contract. Any shot change really needs the whole summer of just practicing it to get it to feel natural. He might just change back to the wider stance.

Better coaches and he'd be fine

My god. WTF is up with him? I was excited when we got him because I saw him as a guy who can score 15-20 points each game consistently. Now, he isn't even hitting double figures in points. Jesus Fucking Christ!

Lue and the coaching staff really need to find a way to get Hood going. Also, Hood needs to get back to his original shooting rhythm. He has bricked and clanked so many shots that it would fulfill Donald Trump's fantasy of building a wall.

We need someone to get in Hoods ear and get him to play with more of a mean streak. That play where Young bullied him in the paint I almost broke my TV.

Fuck that. Get in there and play with aggression, you miss nobody gives a shit if you’re busting your ass. Just look at JR he was bricking everything but he earned his PT laying it all out there on the floor.

Ugh that was so bad. I actually hope he gets injured every time he goes up for a layup now. The bad thing is, he never actually gets to the rim. It's all push shots and contested midrange pullups.

We can't go to war with this guy. Let him live his life as a good stats bad team guy on a perennial lottery franchise like the Magic. Legit I think he's THE GUY all the players like Korver and JR are talking about when it comes to the pressures and expectations of playing with The King

This kid isn't worth too much. He has no confidence and is hesitant as hell. When they got him, I thought they were adding an automatic 15-20 a night playing next to LBJ.
HOWEVER, he's not an iso ball expert, like Kyrie, so unless the Cavs run a system with LBJ (they wont), his value is low.

so the theory is that he is actually a good player but our coaching staff deliberately sabotaged him and ruined his game? And the alternative is that he's actually a bad player and Koby Altman screwed up yet again? Neither of these make me feel good at all.

I looked at his box score stats and physical measurements and thought he was a guaranteed solid offensive contributor playing next to LBJ at the two spot. A real lesson in why you can't rely on stats and have to be suspicious when a team is offloading somebody on you.

He’s frustrating. A lot of it has to do with personality as well. You don’t see a lot of guys like Kawhi or Klay who are just quiet but can destroy you these days...

The guy plays with so little edge and emotion. He rushes shots, he gets lost in the offense.

You can see the skills very prominently. Has the size, can take you off the dribble, can move off screens, get into the paint and score etc... It’s a shame he’s so incomplete tho...

Probably 19ppg with Brad Stevens tho

I really thought his problem was in the thigh area....

I really thought his problem was in the thigh area....
Would have never passed the Coach K test in that case... So I’ve never worried about his thighs...

Truthfully I only worry about Euro thighs cause they eat a lot of weird meats and things as oppossed to the guys here who eat a lot of fries, pizza, sixlets etc....

He was use to taking 6.7 3 pt attempts a game and 14.2 attempts overall. I do think confidence is a big problem with him right now. I also think LeBron is spread too thin to run enough action to get everyone involved. LeBron is running action with guys he is comfortable and confident in.

Hopefully we get a better PG and someone to lock down the backup PG spot like Delly did. We need a mix of drive and kick to the corners and someone to run pick and pop/roll, to add action and reduce the pressure on LeBron. We had that with Kyrie and Delly together.

I also think Hood needs to work on his handles to help create for himself. That and work on getting his 3 pt shot back to where it was, is what he needs to work all offseason on. I think Clarkson, Hood, and Cedi can hold down our SG position if we upgrade our PG position.
