Sacramento Kings

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Sacramento Kings (trade for Rudy Gay)

I can't really fault the Kings for this one. They aren't a free agency destination and they just signed Cousins to an extension. They need to start making some of these types of moves or completely tank trading even Cousins. If they don't completely tank, I guess this is the next best option.

Re: Sacramento Kings (trade for Rudy Gay)

Great, now all Sacramento needs to do is get the 13th worst record, and we get an extra 2014 1st.

Re: Sacramento Kings (trade for Rudy Gay)

Vasquez is going to look good in Toronto. Jonas is smiling after this trade.

Speaking of gay relatives.

Re: Sacramento Kings (trade for Rudy Gay)

Yeah this deal will not make Sacramento legit contenders but it will likely get them to the point were we get the 13th pick in the 2015 draft. We will likely have 4 draft picks in 2015(sac, Memphis, Mia, our own)

Re: Sacramento Kings (trade for Rudy Gay)

The Raptors canvassed damn near the entire league in their quest to become the second team in two seasons to dump Rudy Gay well in advance of the trade deadline, according to sources across the NBA. They went to every team that made at least some theoretical sense: Detroit, with expiring contracts and at least some need on the wing; Milwaukee, with fading postseason ambitions and a massive hole at small forward the Greek Freak isn’t quite ready to fill; Cleveland, with a playoff mandate, a GM on shaky ground, and perhaps the worst group of starting wing players in the league; and many others.

Everyone said no, and they did so abruptly. This is how far Gay’s value has declined league-wide over the last 18 months. I know GMs who say they wouldn’t touch him now in free agency for the midlevel exception

Re: Sacramento Kings (get us that draft pick)

Don't even have to be the 8th seed for us to get that pick

So what exactly does need to happen for us to get it then? I thought it was just lottery protected, enlighten me.

2014 first round draft pick from Sacramento

Sacramento's first round pick, top-12 protected in 2014, top-10 protected in 2015, top-10 protected in 2016 and top-10 protected in the 2017 Draft. If Cleveland has not received a first round pick from Sacramento by 2017, then Sacramento shall convey their own 2017 2nd round draft pick to Cleveland provided it is within the top-55 picks. If it is not, then Sacramento's obligation to Cleveland shall be extinguished. (Cleveland-Sacramento, 6/30/2011)

Thanking wuck for doing a job that must take extreme amounts of patience, like kindergarten teacher levels some time.

I think in sactos situation they have to gamble, and hope mike malone has the skill, guts and charisma to mould this bunch of misfits into a club that can win games

Re: Sacramento Kings (trade for Rudy Gay)

This doesn't feel like a trade with a clear winner and loser. Toronto lost more talent than they got back, but their contract situation and talent combination wasn't working. Gay and Derozan were too similar and neither player makes others better.

Sacramento had to admit Vasquez wasn't as good as they hoped, but they get the most talented individual for the second time in a month. Malone is swapping out a lot of personalities who have been engrained in a losing culture in Sacramento. They still don't look like a playoff team in the West, but this should help change the Sacramento culture.

Re: Sacramento Kings (trade for Rudy Gay)

My main issue is the Kings have combined 3 top 10 Usage Rate Players this year in the same starting lineup. (Keep in mind this an assumption because I can't see Ray McCallum or Jimmer starting.) And one of them is your point guard. Cousins (1st) Gay (5th) IT (10th) is going to be a nightmare unless IT can learn to be a facilitator.

To put it in perspective, the combined usage rate of Bosh,Wade and Lebron is 79.7. That is a championship team obviously.

The combined usage rate of Gay Cousins and Thomas? 94.8. Kings are no where near even sniffing the post season. Something has to give.

So in essence they were bringing in reinforcements for their tank?

I will give them points for creativity.

You don't take on $19m per year without any draft picks coming your way to tank. They are trying to improve.
