Childress timeline with Chiefs/Dorsey.

  • Kansas City Chiefs (2013–2015)
    Spread game analyst
  • Kansas City Chiefs (2016)
    Offensive Coordinator
  • Kansas City Chiefs (2017)
    Assistant Head Coach

I am actually encouraged by Childress' recent experience. Andy Reid tasked him to learn everything he could possibly learn about the spread offense for three straight years while he was on the Chiefs staff and after that he's worked as an assistant head coach and offensive analyst.

I don't necessarily want him calling plays, but I definitely wouldn't blindly assume he's the same guy from 2012. He's gotten a LONG education in spread principles since then.

For all intents and purposes, Brad Childress has done nothing but learn, install and coach spread offense concepts since 2013.

You almost have to take anything before that and dump it in the trash because Andy Reid and all the Reid tree offshoots - Childress, Pederson, Reich, Nagy, Shurmur among others - have pretty much taken the West Coast Offense and thrown it out.

Couldn't agree more. Everyone has a hard-on for Andy Reid, Doug Pederson, Matt Nagy, and Eric Bieniemy. Childress was in the same offensive room with all of them for three seasons. Hard to believe he hasn't experienced a shift in his philosophies and principles.

I can’t imagine considering his recent experience and age, Childress is anything more than a consultant/senior offensive assistant role for Stefanski...

Out with Al Saunders, in with Brad Childress...

As a side note, Bruce is tasking Leftwich for OC. Would lead me to believe Freddie is staying in some capacity...

We'll see. Childress as a play caller leaves a lot to he desired. It would be enough to put me in the cautious pessimist side of things.

I doubt Childress leaving his AAF HC gig is a coincidence though.

You'd think this fuckstick would have learned from Mayfield to keep his mouth airtight.

Just tweet at him “break a story for once”. You’ll be blocked in about 5 seconds and won’t have to see anything he puts out.

I’d be good with Childress as OC. Learned from Reid for three years and is older so we do not need to worry about him leaving.

The whole thing would just baffle me, though. I trust Dorsey, but man, breaking Kitchens up from that is a bold ass move.

Childress hasn't actually called plays for a very long time, so I'm hesitant to have him as the OC. Maybe Stefanski would call his own plays like so many coaches often do.

I do think Childress' spread offense knowledge is certainly valuable.
