I am equally excited to hear that there was a potential standoff between Dorsey and DePodesta and Haslam stuck to his word regarding Dorsey getting the final say in choosing a HC.

That's almost a bigger indicator to me that times might actually be changing, despite the success we saw last year.

"potential" is the key word there.

Personally, I don't buy it for a second. Screamed of PFT speculating & trying to find out what was going on. "Football vs analytics" is always the most common thing to guess & speculate regarding the Browns.

The best thing about this? Organizational alignment...

Haslam didn’t pull rank and try to lure past flings like Gase or McDaniels...

There was no forced marriage with Kitchens as OC or Stefanski as his OC...

Dorsey was able to pick his guy.

We also now, hopefully, will have stability on the most important side of the ball at the most important position....

This will now allow Kitchens to fill out his staff and not have any in-fighting, within the coaching staff or between FO and coaches, like we’ve seen in the past...

The owner let the GM pick his guy and now the GM is letting the coach pick his guys...

Bless’em

The Browns proceeded this interview process looking for every reason not to make Freddie Kitchens the HC. And after turning over every rock, Kitchens stole this job by being the most likable, most prepared, and the best fit.

We should all feel great about this. Dorsey interviewed, back-channeled, and researched everyone on his list. In the end, Kitchens--who surely wasn't on his list a year ago--made him burn the page and hire him. He forced him to.

Regardless if Dorsey wanted Kitchens all along, it's nice to know that Haslam has learned from his past mistakes or at the very least, is willing to listen to someone who knows football better than he does.

What about Saxon from PIT as a possible positions coach, any connections?
