Series # 33: Indians @ Tiggerz Jewly 27, 28 und 29

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mejia got traded for an extra Hand and some Cimber to help start a fire in the bullpen.
Wow...need to pay a lot more attention. Can't believe we gave that up. Is Hand and Cimber worth a top prospect like him?

Its one of those things, we have two established catchers and some solid potential ones in the minors, so we traded from an area of strength in that sense and with our bullpen being in shambles we needed those two guys at the end of the day.

Both Hand and Cimber (Cimber could be another Joe Smith/at least a solid Right handed specialist) have some years of control left and Hand has become a very respectable left handed closer. Essentially with a healthy Miller, We have our 6th inning guys (Perez/Cimber) Then three closers to finish the game.

So we got good players back so we did make a good move on paper in a lot of ways. Mejia though should be a legit pro with his bat at least, so that being said, did we just trade away a franchise bat? It is quite possible, so it will be hard to say one way or they other, but we made a win now move. So take it as we made the right move to win a championship now, but could have hurt the recovery from the win now mode.

I think Ramirez is the better player too. Would love to keep them both long-term, but I think its unrealistic though.

Lindor is going to command too much for us, unfortunately.

As much as it will suck, I don't think it cripples us though. As long we maintain our pitching, which shouldn't be a problem. You got a good front office with a proven track record of finding guys.

The Indians are still set up to be relevant for years to come.

These guys really don't get enough credit for setting us up so well like this. It's pretty amazing what a good front office can do for your team now and going forward.

I mean, we have them both through 2021. That's still another 3 seasons after this one. That qualifies as years to come I think. After 2021, all bets are off. It is very possible we go into a rebuild at that point, but hard to see that far into the future. For all we know some other studs may step up before then to fill holes and keep the window going.

At this point I am just very confident in how the organization drafts and runs their front office. Probably one of the best in MLB in that regard. Francona won't be around forever, though, so I'm hoping that we can replace him when he does go with someone that possesses and brings similar credibility (and great managing) to the team.

What the hell happened to you in here?
It got to be too much. Teasing the Indians saying things like Santana has a walk fetish I thought was funny, but it genuinely feels like to me that some posters want the Indians to "choke" again so they can keep spamming their memes. If you can't find one good thing to say about the best run team in town that is set up to be a contender for at least 3 more years then I think you are just trolling.

Right. There were some posters that stood by Jose, but I don't think it's a stretch to say nobody was expecting him to progress into a perennial MVP candidate that looks like he could actually hit 50 homeruns in a season.

In a city that has just absolutely putrid revolving doors of terrible management, the Indians are a breath of fresh air and I have full confidence in the front office. To be able to have a title window stretching as long as ours is projected as a small market team is something that is very difficult to do

I'm not worried at all. I always rather have good pitching first anyways. You win around that more so than superstar talents like Ramirez and Lindor. Not saying those guys don't mean a thing, or don't impact a team. Just that as long as you have a good front office. Which we do. They'll find good every day players. Even great ones.

Pretty confident they'll continue put out a good product. We got everything in place. Great manager, really good front office. Do I say not bad ownership even? Hey, he doesn't peddle and lets the baseball people do their job.

I can honestly say I really really love this front office. It's why I don't give shit what they gave up for Hand and Cimber.

I don't care, they'll replace those prospects. Antonetti and Chernoff don't fuck around.

I cant be the only one that thinks the indians get lindor to sign some sort of contract extension. He is losing tons of money right now and i think he will agree to some sort of of contract extension just to start making more money sooner. It maybe only a year or 2 but i think it will be something.

Same thing with Ramirez but you know because he already signed that ridiculous contract.

He turned down a 100 million dollar extension already

I think Lindor’s got his sights on a number only 1 or 2 teams could even pay him. Could be wrong but immediately turning down that 100 million dollar extension makes me think he is willing to just wait it out and cash in

This team is good enough to win it all if they play to their potential, especially if they can add another solid outfield piece.

Will they, is the question.

I just want the pitching and bullpen to hit its stride now into October. Kluber getting back on track, and Clevinger getting things back to where he was is more important to me. Especially with how Bauer is pitching, the last thing we need is Kluber not be fuckin' Kluber. Because if he is that duo is dynamic. Carrasco is coming back to form. You're looking at a really deep and good starting pitching if these guys are at their ceiling.

Hopefully Miller comes back right, and Allen gets his head on straight. I just care where the pitching is more personally.

We got enough every day help IMO, even if they don't add another guy.

Just weird the overall starters hasn't really hit their stride together. Even though they've all been pretty damn good this year.

When Kluber and Clevinger was striding. Carrasco was struggling then gets hurt. Then Kluber and Clevinger go into a funk, and Carrasco starts hitting his stride. The only constant guy has been Bauer, whose been fantastic.

If all these guys start finally hitting their strides together, and the bullpen gets its act together, we can make a real run at this.

The Indians would be idiotic to not just stretch finances and sign Lindor to a monster extension. He's a generational player.....if they decide the finances don't make sense, a year or two in to the deal, you can easily move him to a big market and get something good in return.

Lindor is not like many of the other players we have let walk IMO, who have been further in to their prime. Manny was 29, Thome 31, etc, etc. I just cannot fathom that the organization wouldn't swallow a massive contract from Lindor, given his age, knowing he can easily be traded if it doesn't work out.

The Indians have approached Lindor's people about an extension.

They have, to this point, not been receptive.

Can we lobby for a ‘sad’ rating? While this is the expected outcome it doesn’t make it any less...sad.

The unfortunate thing from our perspective too is Lindor has made it through the "tough" years of team control only making ~$500k a year. Next year he hits arbitration for the first time and is in line for a x10+ pay increase.

I think it’s just best to focus on Jose. I have next to no doubt Lindor is trying to be the highest paid player in baseball. I think Ramirez, based on already inking a reasonable extension, isn’t as worried about making 400 million instead of just a measly quarter of a billion dollars
