So Long, James Jones

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tonight is a great example of why the Cavs wouldn't cut him. Along with everything he provides in the locker room, the guy just has the ability to stay ready at all times and shoot the ball. He can't guard anyone anymore, but it really doesn't matter at this point.

What you want out of you 12th man is a pro's pro, and that's exactly what James is.

Hopefully Jones retires this year and becomes an assistant coach. The Cavs could use an open spot in the lineup.

Ehh. I think his voice as a player carries a lot of weight in the locker room. It's one thing for a coach to say stuff, but for a vet who is competing and practicing and hitting 50% off the bench with championship experience to be able to tell a guy what he needs to hear? Means a lot more.

Champ will play next year, finish his contract, and most likely hang it up after that. And I have no problem with giving him the 14th/15th roster spot for that reason. His ability to shoot alone makes him one of the better 15th men in the league, and plus his leadership...there are some super scrubs at 14/15 around the league. JJ could absolutely spread the floor for 5 minutes in a playoff game and guard a spot up shooter if he had to, and would probably make an open 3 in the process.

Cavs could do a LOT worse than JJ at that spot.

Absolutely. There's a lot to be said for consistency and reliability. You know EXACTLY what you're getting (and not getting) with JJ when you insert him into a lineup. I'm sure that's a nice safety blanket for a coach, especially when you have some very streaky players.

He's no Ferrari or even a Corvette, but when you just need to get to work, a 20 year old Camry that's never broken down is going to get the job done.

That's odd

Not really, if you read about what he said when he said he was playing 1 more year on media day.

Pretty much the gist of it was that in the era he came into the league in, it was a badge of honor to last 15 years in the league...said it's been a goal for him for a while.

He should be playing over Channing. I'm dead fucking serious.

He's a better shooter, rebounder, and defender.

It's sad that that's the truth but it is. Channing Frye does nothing better than James fucking Jones

Bridge the gap between the coaches and the players JJ! You have one job!

It's time to go
