So Long Jordan Clarkson ( aka Chucky McJumperson)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Lakers are going to get rid of all their young talent and strike out on all the big name free agents. No one wants to come to LA and deal with Lavar Ball. They should've kept Clarkson and traded Ball. Oh well, their loss is our gain.

Yeah NS , Clarkson is far superior defensively and moves the ball around more efficiently without going straight iso . He also dunks the ball with authority , I can’t recal Kyrie ever doing that .

Clarkson def brings some of what Kyrie brings, but the defense is something we could have only dreamed of. This guy is a competitor, and if he is not in the groove, you can put Hill back in. Very hard not to like what Jordan brings. He is the type of guy LeBron loves to play with. His swag is infectiois

These young Lakers man, that is huge, they already played in la under those glaring lights.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they both played with Kobe.

Yep Clarkson played with Kobe for two years, Nance one. Luckily it was during Kobe’s twilight years, a little less teammate hating, because he helped mold Clarkson into the player he is today. Lots of articles discuss JC and Kobe’s relationship. Kobe believed in his abilities, even though it sometimes required some vintage Kobe motivational tactics. One game in particular stands out against the Suns:

“All I remember was Kobe telling me that I've been going to the hole like a light-skinned dude. So I've got to start doing it like a dark-skinned [dude]. So when I seen the lane opened up, that's all I remember.”

A little racist? Certainly but it led to this:

Clarkson has definitely benefittied from some mamba mentoring, regardless of how PC it was. How refreshing is it to see a guy not named James, Smith, or Love look so confident in his game especially when he should be “finding his role” on the team. I’m glad that he has taken the Kobe route in finding his role. It certainly has beat Crowder’s way of finding his role off this fucking team.

Which is just funny because Lakers traded D'angelo russell because they thought top tier FAs wouldn't want to come to the Lakers because of him. A year down the line they have an even bigger cancer set to steer FAs away from the franchise

Right? If the Lakers hasn’t jumped ship on Russell, they could be trotting out a young core of Russell, Ingram, Tatum, Kuzma, Nance, and Clarkson.

That would be a top 4 team in the West at minimum by like 20-21.

Irving has been basically the exact same player his entire career, with or without James. He's improved slightly this season with a better coach, but he's still basically the same player. He's an efficient scorer, great shooter, and dog shit on defense. That's who he was last year. That's who he is this year. That's who he'll be next year. That's who he was his rookie year.

I like Clarkson, but let's pump the brakes on saying he's anywhere near Irving's level as a scorer after two games. He's never been that kind of consistent in the past, which is why he's coming off the bench.
I agree with you, but Kyrie takes about 17 shots a game. Now that he's gone, it's one less guy for Lebron and Lue to have consideration for. So far, that's about the same number of shots taken by Clarkson and Hill combined. I know it's only two games but Clarkson and Hill have a combined 26 PPG.

I mean, honestly, what were the Lakers thinking?! They basically gave us two FANTASTIC young players for a LATE first round pick.

The odds of us getting even 1 player as good as either Clarkson or Nance with this year's first round pick are so low...it's not even worth calculating.

Clarkson seems to have the swagger you need in money time of playoff situations also. He has drilled big momentum shots 2 games in a row with no hesitation.

If he keeps up his defensive effort, can definitely see him being part of the closing lineups on the regular.

Right, the Lakers took on all the risk of drafting late players(Nance in the late 1st, Clarkson in the mid second). Those players rarely succeed. So they go 2/2 on those guys and we trade them a what 33% percent chance of success lotto ticket for two guys who already beat the odds.

Now, with as good as their late round scouting has been(led by Jesse Buss - Clarkson, Nance, Kuzma and Hart/Zubac to a lesser extent) they may feel confident with the Cavs first and of course we know why they feel they needed to get rid of the money owed Clarkson in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020

Is that what you think it is on average for late first round picks? 1 out of every 3 becomes a viable rotation player? I have no clue, but I would have guessed even less than that.

Yeah maybe even lower? 20%?

Plus it's two things. For Nance, you want to look at the success rate of picks taken from say 20-30

But Clarkson wan't taken until 45, so the odds of a pick in that 36-50 range being a legit top 8 rotation player are probably more like 6-12%

It's hard to tell I think you need to hold off on judging any of those picks until at least 3-4 years, but in both Nance and Clarkson's case, it's clear they are capable of at minimum being solid rotation players. And it was pretty clear from their time on the Lakers as well.

Thanks Lakers!

I would think that this new setup is prefered over the one we had with Kyrie, due to the points and energy being spread across the entirety of the game (no drop-off when the bench comes in), along with above average Defense that Kyrie never displayed...

The Lakers have been involved in a very quiet war with the NBA this season. As soon as Magic became President of Basketball Operations, he began manipulating every grey area of the collective bargaining agreement around tampering. He uses third parties to communicate with pending free agents in 2018, he uses prominent media to push stories about unhappy locker rooms. The league threw a $50,000 fine at Magic over a compliment towards Gianni's, but in reality that was just the NBA saying, "We know exactly what you are doing, stop."

I'd like nothing more than for Magic to strike out this summer, but that won't happen. He's been in communication with dozens of players under contract elsewhere. All I care about is LBJ staying away this season. That's a win enough for me, compared to where LBJ was mentally about two weeks ago.

The Lakers don't really want to rebuild. They want to buy a team.
