Sports Gambling Now Legal in Ohio

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What apps are you guys using?
Fanduel, Draft Kings & MGM. I put just $100 in each, captured any bonuses and will just ride it out and see which one I like better.

If anyone wants a referral please let me know.

There's more to it. All of these special offers are like a drug dealer giving you the first hit for free.

There are rules against immediately cashing out. You typically have to re-wager any promotional winnings multiple times before it lets you cash out.
Draft Kings, for example, gives you a sign up bonus. Just deposit, bet & settle a $5 bet and you get 8 $25 bet vouchers. Cant obviously be withdrawn, but its a nice way to get your feet wet. If they yield winners, its cash.

Took a parlay of USC -2.5 and Utah -2.5 today.

Might be done with this...

Can someone explain to me why this is a big deal?

I mean, outside of you being able to place sports bets at casinos and stadiums now...from an app perspective, why does this matter? It seemed like tons of my friends were already using Fan Duel/Draft Kings/etc before even when it was "illegal" here.

So how did everyone get away with it before? And what does it being "legal" now change (again, from an app perspective) ?

Apparently one of the really big deals is the apps that let you bet in real time. You can bet on if the next play will be a pass or a run? Will he make this 47 yd fg? 3 seconds left in the game, will Chicago hit the winning shot? (cheat note- they do NOT)

Total newbie here. Got DK and FD just to take advantage of the free money. I put in about $45, and got $400 in credit money or whatever to bet with between the two.

Can somebody explain the No Brainers / Super odds boosts? Like… bet the Cavs to get 1 three pointer, or 1 rebound? Is this … like basically free money to get people hooked? Obv there is a small maximum bet amount but still. It’s essentially a free $50 profit for clicking a button.

I am in Texas where we will be the last state to legalize any vice. That said i have used all the apps and none of them are as good as the one my bookie uses. He subscribes to an app that covers every game word wide pretty much. It also allows live betting, like next FG made and what team ect... It's a lot of fun but can get out of hand quickly. My advice is bet what you know, be careful don't go chasing ( I find i have lost more money chasing then just straight up betting by the percentages), meaning if you get down just stay down and take a break, don't get caught up in trying to make your money back. Don't bet more than you are willing to lose. I know I am a 47 year old father of 4 ranging from 30 to 23. Sorry Its in me to be a dad 24/7.

That said I enjoy the live betting a lot. I did take the Astros to win before last season and made 4500 dollars, that's my biggest hit do far.
I mostly bet basketball and baseball, I bet based on not only the odds they give but the percentages of covers wich I use the following website daily when I am betting. It shows me who covers at home as the favorite ( Cavs are currently cover 68% of the time, and Grizzlies 73.3) it will also show you all time ATS ( against the spread) and away games or after a win, or on 2 days rest.

When betting its important to remember the odds are stacked in favor of the house.... so use everything you can to make sure when you bet your getting the odds as close to your favor as possible.

Edit*

I will say the one way I make the most of my money in live betting NBA is looking for big swings, like the Cavs being down 20 the other night, my app offered the Cavs +18 for - 120 at one point meaning I had to risk 120 to win 100. Ill bet those to win in 50 dollar incremeants. So risk 60 to win 50. I would say on the season im hitting 75% of those type bets.

I rarely bet before a game any more. Like today the Cavs are -5.5 @-110 I will wait until the Suns go on a run and take the Cavs either + points or - 1 if I bet them tonight.

Id say there are ZERO no brainer picks and if they are your getting odds of -250 meaning you have to risk 250 to win 100 or 25 to win 10.

Cavs to hit 1 or more 3s is a no brainer.

I’m sure they’re designed to lure new people in, but it doesnt get much easier than that. Another was Cavs to get 1 or more rebounds. They were “boosted” odds at +100 with max bet of like $50. So not like you can win a ton of money. But still.

Yes this is stuff you will only be able to do with their promotion money.. I can't see those bets as im not using those apps in Texas. So you are talking about a one off where they are baiting a hook to lure you in.

Yeah, they're used to give you a tase of winning so then you gamble it all back to them.

Buff/Cin super boost on Monday was for the teams to score 1 pt combined.

So to my point earlier the cavs were -5.5 before tip off. I got it in live action cavs +3.5.

I want to get into this, but have no clue. Seems complicated. Maybe I'll download the app and go from there.

I'm enjoying all this free gambling money the apps are throwing our way. Think I've gotten $250 so far from Fanduel. I've only used like $75 of it so far. My two bets yesterday failed. Got a parlay for tonight's Mavs-Celtics game so we'll see. Once the free money runs dry, don't think I'll be doing much more of it. It's pretty fun -- I can see why some people would get addicted to it.

There are apps where you can "practice". I recommend doing that first. The Action Network allows you to "track" the bets you make, so for fun I would put in the bets I would have made for real money. Good way to get the hang of it before throwing real cash in.
