People aren't doing their research before latching onto a campaign policy or concepts as drastic as Brexit or the TPP. Look at the UK.

While it may feel good to stick it to the admittedly overbearing and obnoxious bureaucrats in Brussels/Strasbourg, the actual consequences are so numerous that people tend not to think of them until it is too late. Or ignore it until it bites them in the ass. But, people are doubling down on stupid over there. 63% say the UK should leave even if there is no replacement trade deal in place. People are governed by emotions these days.

In this case, the temptation to stick it to CHAI-nah was evidently too much to pass over. Or, maybe it will startle the Chinese into a better deal (doubt it). But, generally speaking not being at the table is not a good thing. We will see.

Interesting. There seemed to be a lot of support to kill TPP across party lines even. Didn't Bernie Sanders outline how awful it was and that he would kill it too?

I figured if anything, this would have been favorably viewed in general.

I would seriously doubt that 63% although lots did vote brexit "to get rid of democracy Muslims" :(

Unfortunately, my friend, I am not exaggerating; I use fact facts:

"
  • And a clear majority of voters (59%) thinks May was right to threaten economic retaliation, including slashing business taxes, if the EU offers the UK a bad Brexit deal.
And here are the detailed figures.

First people were told that Brexit negotiations are starting soon and were then asked which of these three options they would prefer.

UK leaving, regardless of what happens: 53%

Parliament to decide whether the UK leaves, based on the outcome of negotiations: 12%

A second referendum to let people decide, based on the outcome of the negotiations: 26%

Don’t know: 9%

Then people were asked what should happen if the UK and the EU failed to reach an agreement in the time allowed for the Brexit talks (two years). They were given two choices.

End talks and leave without a deal: 49%

Postpone or suspend the UK’s exit from the EU: 33%

Don’t know: 18%

Then people were asked which of these two options they thought was best.

Leaving the EU without a trade deal: 63%

Leaving the EU with a bad trade deal: 8%

Don’t know: 29%

Finally, people were told that, if May is offered a bad Brexit deal by the EU, she has threatened to retaliate by cutting business taxes to encourage businesses to move to the UK, or changing “the basis of Britain’s economic model” as she puts it. They were asked if May was right or wrong to do this.

Right: 59%

Wrong: 18%

Don’t know: 23%

ICM Unlimited interviewed an online sample of 2052 adults aged 18+ on 20-22 January 2017. Interviews were conducted across the country and the results have been weighted to the profile of all adults. ICM is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules."

Yeah, you are right. For very different reasons both parties have people against it. It could be a good thing. I have seen decent arguments for both and against.

I guess my trepidation stems from not the move in itself but rather the general trend of his thinking in absolute terms and acting impulsively.

It was a campaign promise and one that was very easy to fulfil.
The Federal manpower freeze, that is what you need to watch out for, the TPP agreement was dead, even Obama didn't sign it when he had the chance.

The Federal administration is going to go into shock mode, best way to stifle the FBI, CIA and other people snooping into the "strong friendship" Trump has with Putin.

Maybe the feds should go talk to Gravano, get some leverage on all of Trumps dealings with the Gambinos?

Oh shitsticks. OK I'm looking for a new non retard country today

I want to start that I hate Trump.

But the issue is the reporter looked around and reported something without confirming. All he had to do is ask where is the bust of MLK, but he didnt. On purpose he printed it to enrage the public even more towards what appears to me to be an already racially insensitive administration.

Its the 2 wrongs dont make a right, and even though he "retracted" in this situation once the damage is done there is no retracting as most wont see the retraction.

Its proof of something I already knew, both sides are trolling and both sides are trying to bait people. Its politics and reporting at its worst from all involved.

The only other thing I have to say on it as I agree with both of your takes...

We know Presidential Administrations lie. The Bush one was awful with lying and witholding the truth. If the medias job is to push back and find the truth, is it not completely detrimental to our country if they start lying as well? They are suppossed to be the check and balance to keep things honest. If people also equate them as lying then we're really screwed. To me they actually have more responsibility to get it correct. If they burn their reputation we have only two choices, which liar do you want to believe. They need to take things more seriously and check and double check before publishing.

This becomes somewhat complicated when the Administration policy is to play the victim every time something is reported on accurately, in addition to the times when it may be somewhat biased.

Even more complicated when the Administration values InfoWars and Breitbart as credible journalism in spite of them committing these same wrongs with much more frequent regularity and with bias even less subtle.

Frankly, I don't have time for their whining about the media so long as Alex Jones and Steve Bannon are looked upon by the same Administration as heroes.

If the media and the administration are lying to us we are screwed. No excuse from the media to do sloppy, untruthful, antagonistic reporting. One side represents our best interests. The other side holds them accountable. The media got one thing right, Spicer using incorrect Metro numbers, everything else was proven wrong over and over in this thread and the last. The media needs to not lie on trivial things like the bust or showing incorrect inauguration photos that can be easily disproved. No one will be listening to them if we need to if this is how they are acting now.

It's a shame some people won't hold the administration to the same standard they do the media.

Maybe it just means they are spoiled brats? Or maybe it means they have no personal responsibility?

Surely it means something - unless of course they were just told to leave the signs on the ground - like you leave your popcorn and empty soda bucket in the movie theater after you leave.
Went on a 2nd date once with this girl who was pissed I left my trash in the theatre. Needless to say, I didn't go on a third date with her.

Anyone here with kids, grandkids, or hoping for either?

Guess what? Fuck em.

If you can't beat the Chinese and refuse to join them, the only option left is imitation?

Instead of acknowledging the world changed and the amount of employees needed are lowered due to technological advancement, sell the people that the regulations inhibit employment and pocket the money when you destroy the environment without actually contributing to the people who suffer the consequences.
