Ya technically green and pink "work" but it's not aesthetically pleasing.
You don't see a lot of brown and light blue anywhere, with reason. Subjective, but maroon and light blue is another "works on paper but doesn't look good".
Brown and gold push scheme in a one direction too far for light blue to make sense
I disagree! (But it's wholly subjective and context dependent.)
Brown and light blue is an underrated and underrused scheme (brown isn't terribly common in sports anyway). Tufts is among the few examples:
I also think maroon and light blue is a fantastic combo. This Phillies throwback kicks ass IMO and I'd love it if they went back to it full time instead of being another red/white/blue team.
Thing is, the City Jersey from last year was very adored. Unfortunately, the Cavs changed their color scheme and couldnt stick with the best jersey they've had in years. Still waiting for this throwback though, which more accurately matches our current scheme:
Don't get me wrong, I also loved last years jersey. That worked because of the mixtape theme, tying together elements from previous looks. That's different from some of the clash sets that have become popular (like Utah or Miami, to use the same examples), which offered an alternate branding altogether.
