The King is at it Again

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does anybody here believe if LBJ came back he could put his ego in check and become part of a “team” and blend with these youngsters with demanding the ball/spotlight

Sure - plenty of folks do.

I personally don't, nor do I think he ever did that while he was here. His humble brags were just one clear manifestation of that.

I think LeBron would see this team as gold mine of young assets to trade to make his next super team. I have no clue who he would want to keep vs trade for vets.

Question to really ask is: would we trade 8ish years of contending basketball for 1 title? Because Lebron’s history suggests that’s exactly what would happen.

It’s an interesting question.

I do. I think he’d happily fit into an established system at this stage in his career. Demanding your team be better shouldn’t be an issue, esp for a guy that fills your arena every night.
I don’t find LBJ to be a detriment. He’d be an outstanding fit on this team- for the right price.

No. They can sign and trade sexton, package Maark and a 1st (or this years 1st pick)…something along those lines. You still have LeVert and Okoro, and the 3 needs something.
No reason to think he can’t play at a high level for another 3 years, esp with help (which he’s have here). What you’re not doing is sending 3-4 players PLUS 3-4 draft picks. No way.

I’m thinking less in terms of the acquisition cost of James and more in terms of the short term thinking his influence on the roster demands. It usually means a title, but shortens the window because the future gets mortgaged.

I cant see any realistic way that Mobley or Garland would be traded. Allen, I suppose could, but the price would be extraordinarily high. Past that? Who on this team really matters for the future? We dont have anyone else that couldn't or shouldn't be traded if it meant you had a better shot at a title.

If LeBron came in and part of that process meant that Okoro, this year's first, LeVert, Sexton, Markk, etc.. were traded off for a stud SG, and some veteran bench help, do we really not think we could replace those traded away pieces pretty easily?

It wouldn't be a straight-up trade for a title. It would be a trade for the (allegedly) increased possibility of winning a title. It is entirely possible we'd trade for him and not win a title.

I think LA's collapse has bruised his ego. He's certainly tried and failed to put the whole team on his back in recent years.

I do think there will come a time when LeBron is willing to only focus on winning basketball games, but I hope that time comes when he still has enough left in the tank to actually have a big impact on winning.

It's pretty clear right now that the scoring crown is a big priority for him, and I'd rather he chase that elsewhere. Keep racking up big stats on a poor team and then come back if/when it's winning time.

Of course - I'm just highlighting its been true with the Heat, Cleveland Pt 2, and the Lakers*.

Agreed that Mobley and Garland aren't going anywhere. I would add Allen to the list too. Formidable core!

To answer your question: No, I don't. I think we'd get marginal veterans and it would cost us our ability to meaningfully invest in talent in addition to losing the guys you mention, hence the dramatic shortening of the window. Giving up Okoro, this year's first, LeVert, Sexton, Markk is... a lot, and to assume they'd be easily replaced is to ignore what it cost to get them in the first place.
