The King is at it Again

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's pretty clear right now that the scoring crown is a big priority for him, and I'd rather he chase that elsewhere. Keep racking up big stats on a poor team and then come back if/when it's winning time.

I thought it seemed pretty clear that Lebron was going to keep his contract open to join whatever team drafts Bronny Jr. in 2024 while he racks up stats for a couple years. All this other stuff about why he's not signing a long term contract is just a bunch of deflection and hand waiving.

Bronny has one more year @ Sierra Canyon prep and then probably one year in the G-League if he's not recruited by a top school.

“My last year will be played with my son,” James told The Athletic's Jason Lloyd. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

To this point, Bronny hasn't shown he's even close to an NBA-caliber player yet.

His Senior year is going to be make or break for him.

I’m thinking less in terms of the acquisition cost of James and more in terms of the short term thinking his influence on the roster demands. It usually means a title, but shortens the window because the future gets mortgaged.
I don’t disagree if it severely handicaps your long term assets. Right now the Cavs still maintain a plethora of assets. A full depletion should not occur for a 1 year rental. But something like I outlined above is doable for this team and maintains its young core.

FWIW, ESPN has the 6'3" Bronny ranked 40th in his class with an offer from UK, but the hype likely has something to do with it.

Should I heed the hype?

I do. I think he’d happily fit into an established system at this stage in his career. Demanding your team be better shouldn’t be an issue, esp for a guy that fills your arena every night. P
I don’t find LBJ to be a detriment. He’d be an outstanding fit on this team- for the right price.

At his age, LeBron cannot play at the same pace as these young guys. He simply can't. He's been cheating more on his defense over the years to preserve energy on the offensive end, but even still, he has to control the ball because that's how he manages the pace of the game.

No matter what he may say ahead of time, he's going to dominate the ball because that's what he does, and that's what he needs to do. Maybe that gets you more wins, or maybe it doesn't.

When I saw the first picture in the Bronny thread, I thought his date face tuned the photo. Seeing the second one, she or someone else clearly did.

I think LA's collapse has bruised his ego. He's certainly tried and failed to put the whole team on his back in recent years.

I do think there will come a time when LeBron is willing to only focus on winning basketball games, but I hope that time comes when he still has enough left in the tank to actually have a big impact on winning.

The scoring crown is not a priority for him or he would have found a way to play the like two extra games at the end of last season that it would have taken for him to qualify for and win it. He more or less deliberately gave it up at the end of the season. Scoring so much was just his attempt to put the team on his back, and as you say it failed.

It's his high school Junior prom. It would be a little weird if she was 18, no?
because he's famous 17 year old Bronny needs to date 25 year old famous actresses or else there's a power differential and it's pedophilia. Surprised you haven't kept up with the latest thinking on this

Getting Lebron back next year to combine with our big three would make us a championship contender in a weak east, and would be worth a ton. He's still got gas left in the tank. It would be absolutely crazy not to pursue that if it's possible. All the people implying that Lebron wouldn't be good for this team seem like they've been in suspended animation since 2002 and have no idea what the guy can do. Either that or they didn't watch us play at the end of the year and see that we still have significant holes he could fill.

But unfortunately I don't think we have the trade resources to get him next year. Unless we part with one of our big three (which would be a terrible idea) doubt we have anything to interest LA. It's a damn shame he signed a two year contract with LA instead of a 1+1, bet he regrets it now too. He might not be the same by the 23-24 season when he's a free agent. Also would have been a blast to have him here when he broke Kareem's record. Oh well.

Let's keep the talk about Bronny's prom date out of this topic. It adds nothing to the conversation and is a road none of us will benefit from going down.

I'm referring to the all-time point leader.

I agree that he didn't give a shit about winning the regular season points per game award.

I just was about to dig into a debate about thigh measurements, but perhaps you are right, that might not be where we want to go--

So back on Topic,

Cavs might get Lebron back in the summer of 2024 on a min salary contract if they draft Bronny Jr., but that's about the only way that it happens.

That's all I was saying from the beginning...
