THE NBA CBA WATCH (LOCKOUT IS OVER / OWNERS WIN)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's brutal, but hope one is us. :p

A Cavs game basically every night win or lose is going to be epic and certainly make this winter more exciting. Not sure if it's been posted yet but the schedule is going to be released tomorrow at 7pm on NBA TV.

So the union has been reconstituted. Has anyone heard what is happening with the B level issues and if they will be resolved by Dec 9th so that the votes can happen and the CBA can become final?

As of early yesterday, I heard 200 of the 250 b-list issues have been resolved over the last few days.

Not much lockout related news with all the trade rumors flying around. The deal will get done or everyone will have egg on their face. Players would have taken the deal if put to vote a long time ago.

Player vote window starts tomorrow 6 pm till thursday 4 pm......owners vote thursday

It was reported that almost all "B" items have been agreed to as well. Everything looks good so far.

Anyone with any info on the trade exception extension?

Here is a list of a lot of the B-list issues, I don't see anything on the trade exception though:

No HGH testing in NBA agreement. The NBA and players agree to "study" the issue.

NBA players must wear microphone for one nationally televised game per month and one local game per month. Also, they'll have wear one for up to two playoff games per round. Important note: No NBA player can be disciplined for something caught by the microphone.

No NBA player can be disciplined solely based upon an arrest.

Player per diem: $120.

The agreement calls for a "neutral review of commissioner's financial discipline for on-court conduct."

Players get a minimum of 16 days off during the 2012-13 season.

The minimum fee for promotional appearance made on behalf of a commercial sponsor: $3,000. If player has already made eight appearances that number goes up to $4,000.

The age limit hasn't been decided upon. It'll stay at one year for now, with more discussion to come later.

Players with less than three years of NBA service may be assigned to D-League. No limit on number of assignments. More than three years can't be assigned. That's essentially the same rule as last time, except for the limit on assignments.

Interest twist to that rule though: A player rehabbing an injury can go to the D-League if he and the union agree to, even if he has been in the league for more than three years.

Offseason drug testing starts in 2012-13 with a maximum of two tests for steroids and PEDs.

Players can't be drug tested at the arena on a game night.

If a player gets traded, they get a housing reimbursement for $4,500 for three months following the deal.

Players will get paid more than last time for All-Star participation. The amount wasn't given.

Training camp compensation is $2,000 per week beginning next season.

Player salaries will be pro-rated for the lockout. Basically, they get 66/82 of their normal compensation.

Teams must spent 80 percent of the salary cap this season, then 85 percent and 90 percent.

Beginning 2012 players have "option to directly defer salary to annuity plan with 'favorable interest rates.'"

The luxury tax remains dollar-for-dollar for this season and the next.

This is probably not a B-list issue, but I'd love to see the NBA provide draft pick compensation for those teams that loss players through free agency. Both MLB & the NFL currently do this. It would help the small-market teams, who have to rely upon the draft to build their teams anyways.

How would that work though? Would we give a team an extra lottery pick? If it was an extra mid first rounder it would be basically useless. Also would we give picks based on the AP's of the world leaving or just the LeBron's? If it was the AP's I would just sign a bunch of players every year to one year deals and tell them to GTFO after the year was up. If it was the LeBron's then it would have to be a lottery pick because LeBron is worth at least that much (obviously far more). Would the easist way be just to give a team x amount of extra lottery balls to their own pick based on the players pay grade? There is a lot of ways we could do it imo, but I think the extra lotto balls are the best way, jmo.

I think its too difficult to do that in the NBA since there are only 2 rounds. It makes sense in the NFL where A.) there are 7 rounds and B.) a pick is not nearly as valuable as more players see the field. Same in the MLB where they have like 365 rounds or something.

In the NBA, picks are just too valuable. Can you come up with some sort of system of compensation? Probably. But giving a team a draft pick probably isn't the way to go.

BREAKING: Players have approved the new collective bargaining agreement, two people with knowledge of the results tell @CBSSports.

Cool.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7...15-trade-deadline-other-key-dates-sources-say

So the trade deadline is three weeks after allstar weekend?

The deadline falls roughly three weeks later than usual, with the season starting on Christmas Day. The trade deadline typically fell on the first Thursday after the All-Star Game in the previous labor agreement.

NBA front-office sources said Friday that the league also has informed teams that the seven-day window to invoke the new amnesty clause is Friday through Dec. 16.

Roster moves in the NBA were permissible as of 2 p.m. ET Friday.

In other key dates established by the league for the truncated 66-game season, 10-day contracts can be signed starting Feb. 6; non-guaranteed contracts become guaranteed Feb. 10; and the last day to sign a player and have him be playoff-eligible is March 23.

Between Dec. 25 and Feb. 6, teams will be able to dress and play 13 players instead of the usual 12. After Feb. 6, teams can dress 13 players but only 12 can play.

What the hey? Could this be more arbitrary? The Cavs have their most brutal scheduling in April. How does this make sense?
