The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah...I don't like that. He's kicking ass and killing guys left and right then he just goes Reek?

While it was surprising from a storyline standpoint, in reality it wasn't the worst option. Theon knew he couldn'ttake Euron one-on-one and had he engaged on the ship, Euron easily could've killed Yara right then and there.

Euron won me over last night. They didn't do his character justice last season but his entrance onto the ship was great last night. Killing off two of the most annoying characters in the show's history doesn't hurt either.

Man, it didn't hit me last year, but they did fuck up not giving Euron his eye patch. Unless it's a total red herring by George, the eye patch is kind of a big fucking deal.

I wasn't really a fan of this episode. The sex scene was pretty unnecessary but this probably means greyworm will die. Sam operating seemed to go on forever too. I felt like the direwolf scene was kinda pointless if that's the only time we see them. This episode didn't really advance anything. The whole Euron fight scene seemed like something out of pirates of the Caribbean. Hopefully whoever directed this episode is done. Next week's episode should be better.

Theon, WTF?? If his redemption arc was to end, why not just have him killed on the boat? I don't understand writing him like this... jumping off yet another cliff, so to speak, just to prolong his arc. That was disappointing.

My biggest beef was Euron's dispatching of the Sand Snakes. I'm glad they're gone, as they were written absolutely horribly the entire show, but they're the warrior daughters of Oberyn effing Martell. You're telling me that Euron can dispatch of both Obara and Nym that easily in single combat? He's a reaver, not Arthur Dayne. That rubbed me the wrong way.

Otherwise, great episode. Loved the Nymeria scene.

Missandei. Hot damn.

It would have been the end of his arc had he fought Euron and lost. It's not over yet.

Also, had he made the decision to fight, Euron couldn't have fought back effectively while holding Asha. That means his first move before fighting Theon would have been to slit her throat. Pulling a Kyrie may have been the coward move, but it was also the smart move.

Two girls 110 pounds soaking wet fighting an armoured Viking. That's not a close fight except in bad fantasy novels.

Is this a theory I'm missing? I'm blanking on why the eyepatch is a big deal.

I agree with you here in terms of results, however I don't think that was Theon's intention. He punked out and bailed. I see people saying he had to leave so he could tell Daenerys what happened, but that sounds like rationalizing his cowardice.

Disagree here. We're not talking about hand-to-hand or grappling. Obara has a spear and Nym has a whip. Being that they have the reach and quickness, they absolutely should have destroyed him.

Well I hope Euron killed her. I've got her in our death pool.

Why would he keep the main opponent to his throne alive?

I thought Theon said that he didn't lose the eye and he wore the patch over it. It was black or sparkling, something mysterious and irregular. The thought is there was something magical going on that Euron was hiding.

Totally agree. His entrance was both ridiculously absurd yet absolutely awesome. The guy is looney as fuck. Glad we see that finally.

There aren't too many historical accounts of vikings -or medieval warriors in general - being destroyed by a girl with a whip and spear. At least not outside the bedroom.

Raw strength, which affects not only the force of a blow when it lands, but how quickly you can strike with a weapon - is habitually underestimated in movies. And since movies are the primary source for many peoples' knowledge of fighting....

He'd have clobbered them.

Listen, we're dealing with a fictional world where GRRM hyped them up as being great warriors so I have to take his word. I certainly think casting hurt the realism a bit as well, but a spear is still a spear.

They're also fighting on a ship, something no Dornish woman is likely to have experience with, whereas Euron has been doing it all his life.
