Lol at David Benioff and DB Weiss being signed to produce three more Star Wars movies. Exactly how many more Star Wars movies are they planning on making? At what point do we reach oversaturation? How many different directors are going to be given full liberty to do whatever they want with this beloved universe?

I think we're now on course for 8 confirmed films?

Episode 9
3 Rian Johnson films (I think this is the next mainline trilogy, TBH).
3 Benioff/Weiss films
Solo

There's also the not-so-secret Obi-Wan that is rumored to start shooting in 2019; so that makes 9 movies. But there was also supposed to be an additional anthology film based on Boba Fett starting production in 2020, and they'd even brought on Josh Trank to direct (although he left the project); so that would make 10 films planned over the next several years.

I think the point being here is that Disney plans on making their money back several times over from these movies. They already made a reported $4.06 billion from just the last three movies.

Over-saturation could actually be detrimental given the diminishing quality.

Kathleen Kennedy is no Kevin Feige.

Obi-Wan took the place of Boba Fett. So after Solo, it's 8 - ep9, Obi Wan, Rian Johnson trilogy (which as I understand is a spinoff trilogy), and the 3 Weiss and Benioff movies.

That Obi-Wan movie is going to be great.

Two hours of Ewan McGregor sitting in the desert drinking. Throwing rocks at banthas. Trying to keep sand from getting everywhere.

It will be twice as good as TLJ.

Is that true though? I thought both movies were planned concurrently and Boba Fett just got put on hiatus with Trank stepping down?

Unless, they don't cast Ewan McGregor... !!

But it would be awesome if they could find something for Obi-Wan to actually do.. like, it'd be interesting if he killed off some Dark Jedi or something seeking out the son of the Chosen One.

They did that already though. Perhaps they could have him do something unexpected. Like Obi-Wan in love.

They are just going to keep making them like Bond films, reboot whenever necessary

I am not 100% sure the exact dates. It certainly possible that when Trank was signed on to do Boba Fett, Obi-Wan was at least in development, and possibly even planned to be released after Boba Fett, but when Trank got canned, they just moved Obi-Wan up to take Boba Fett's place. Or maybe they were thinking about Obi-Wan but had no concrete plans, and when Trank got canned, they then committed to Obi Wan. So maybe there was a time when both projects were green lit.

People have been asking when we'd reach over-saturation on the Marvel movies for about ten years now. Still hasn't happened. If the movies are good, no one will care if there are a lot of them.

If the movies are bad, though, I think it will only be a few years before people start getting sick of Star Wars. At any rate, it looks like we're going to be getting at least a Star Wars movie a year from here on out.

The series finale of Star Wars Rebels was great.

A lot of good stuff for them to mine for Episode IX if they can be bothered. It seems obvious that Rey should be the daughter of Ezra Bridger and Sabine.

Plus, Ashoka Tano is confirmed to be alive after the Battle of Endor (and has evidently gone through the transformation of becoming the Ashoka the White).
