Which is ridiculous.

Bad shit happens to everybody. Much, much worse things have happened to me at an early age and I still dont use that as my worldview for everything.

That is a dangerous and counterproductive path to take.

People react in different ways to discriminating acts against them. Some people walk it off, some carry it with them for a lifetime, some help to try to change it. I'm of the opinion we should never ignore it.

Which is ridiculous.

What is ridiculous? Addressing racism in society in a structured way is ridiculous?

Bad shit happens to everybody.

Who said otherwise?

Much, much worse things have happened to me at an early age and I still dont use that as my worldview for everything.

Much worse things than what? And who said it was the worldview "for everything." 'Central component' and "everything" don't mean the same things.

That is a dangerous and counterproductive path to take.

According to who? Dangerous for whom?

Oh shit, of course. Can't rule him out at all.
Mods know my name, address and everything else about me.

I told them.

They also probably confirmed my location and know that I live in what many would consider the hood.

You want to talk about racism? Lets also have a discussion about black racism against whites.

Anti-racism is definitely a central component to my worldview because racism was my first negative societal experience growing up; and that's true for many minorities.

So it's hard to imagine not dwelling on it when it's such a serious and impactful aspect of life as a minority in America.

I didn't experience it from your end, but growing up when I did (I was in 3rd grade when they started busing, starting in 3rd grade), racism was also my first negative social experience. I was shocked at how some acted, and it made me strive to be better than what I witnessed. And at the time I felt lucky to be part of the generation that I thought would end racism. It saddens me that it's still such an issue in this country.

A coworker today was talking about the eminem song. He's actually a slightly older than middle aged Japanese guy. I told him I thought it was egregious on ems part to call Trump a racist. He went on to say that black guys use to call him a chinamen growing up which really bothered him as a Japanese dude. Every race has it's racist people, but it only seems like white people are condemned for it when all people should be.

It wasn't just American slaves, but is also pronounced amongst the Norse during the Viking age.

Before gun-powder, and in the absence of professional standing armies, individual prowess in battle often depended on the size and strength of the warrior. The larger and stronger the warrior, the more successful he was with spoils and thence buying wives who had more living children.

This magnified the tendency of Northern Europeans to be large and skeletal examinations of the Norse nobility revealed that many were as tall as people are today, and that meant they were a good half foot taller or more than the norm for the age in Europe.

Kind of a side-bar to this conversation, but sometimes I get bored and like to research how certain terms/words came to be. I never really knew the history behind the word "motherf*cker". Maybe I'm an idiot and it's common knowledge, but the term largely started due to slavery. In rare cases when they had a very "strong" woman, they'd have her pro-create with her son(s). Because of the practice, it became a common term/phrase to use when insulting someone.

It was also interesting/sickening to learn, they normally put bags over the heads of the slaves to:

1. Prevent them from knowing who they were sleeping with
2. Cause confusion on the plantation as to who the fathers were to the kids.....they wanted to eliminate familial roles, especially that of the father, as it made them easier to control
