No, North Korea is obviously not the greatest country on the world.

But if you said "Why are we bringing in people from these shitholes like North Korea or the Philippines, why can't we get more people from countries like Germany?" then you sort of leave room for people to assume you have a preference for Germanic people over Asians.

Yeah, but again, given Trump's long history of racist remarks, we can pretty safely assume that it is correct in this case. This is not a man who has done anything to deserve the benefit of the doubt when he makes racially insensitive comments.

So whatever reason our relationship has deteriorated is irrelevant to this discussion, and is certainly not something that should be discussed publicly.

As far as my political leaning I have always considered myself in the middle, but the lunacy of the left, and me calling it out has made my appear to be more conservative than I actually am.

It's not the topic at all... What is frustrating is how people talk past each other, do not actually engage in discussion, and then insult the other person. These threads used to be awesome, and I do not know if it was Trump or something else, but they have become literal poison.

Some things are better left unsaid. I overheard a raging liberal feminist here rant about having to go to Cleveland and hating it because it’s a shithole full of conservatives. I didn’t say anything because I don’t want to start drama at work.

I like how we've moved the goalposts from "the President of the United States shouldn't make disparaging remarks about foreign countries because it makes us look bad" to "people shouldn't leak the President's disparaging remarks about foreign countries because it makes us look bad."

No, you're missing the point. There are two issues here. One is whether Trump should have said what he said.

The second issue is the motivations of those who apparently spend every waking hour attacking him. Are they motivated by love of country, or simply by a desire to destroy someone they don't like? That is relevant here because apparently at least one Senator played a role in leaking and/or confirming this. And whether or not senior elected officials are motivated primarily by love of country, or by someone else, is also a relevant inquiry.

Even if you personally don't care.

Or to put it differently...was the reaction to this from the left "oh no, I wish he wouldn't have said that" or "This is fantastic! We now have something else on which we can attack him!" Again, that's focusing on the observations that this is damaging U.S. foreign relations.

Personally, my reaction was: "Great, this asshole said something else stupid and racist. Can't wait until we have a President who isn't a complete embarrassment to the country again."
