I agree, it was dumb to say. That also doesn’t make it racist

Agreed. The fact that it was dumb doesn't make it racist. The fact that it was racist did though.

and I refuse to believe we have so many people here that have never said bad things about a place.

LOL Nobody said that. Take a break.

It’s just ridiculous what they’re asking us to believe.

What is your goal here man? You don't believe it was racist and nothing is going to convince you otherwise?

Do you know what’s best for me?

When you're just here for the meltdown...

I have an obligation to the board to keep discussions topical, respectful and free of personal attacks. I ask that you respect that and respect the board. My initial comment was directed at no one in particular. It was a comment to everyone to keep the discussion civil and if that wasn't possible to step away.

See...I guess I don't really see what Trump saying something stupid has to do with the merits of a bill. Either it's a good bill, or it isn't. 5 years down the road when it is (or isn't law), some asshole comment by Trump won't matter in how the bill is applied.

And in terms of changing minds on the immigration bill itself...what's the logic there?

"I was in favor of merit-based immigration rather than the lottery. Then Trump mentioned shithole countries, so I changed my mind." It just doesn't make sense to me.

I think it weakens the ground of Republicans, personally. For whatever reason, you have Jeff Flake (R), who already hates the President, out telling the media they've essentially agreed on the framework of a bi-partisan bill and it meets the President's requirements.

Then you've got the alleged "shithole" remarks which exploded yesterday afternoon into today. Then the tweet today from Trump in reference to the awful framework of the bill... that there wasn't nearly enough money appropriated for the wall in his opinion.

With a week left to strike a deal, even if it's less money than he wanted for the wall, I believe he's weakened his leverage. He went from looking like a "deal-maker" on Tuesday to just crushing his political capital with this fire-storm.

Maybe if the clintons wouldn’t have scammed Haiti it’s people would want to live there.

BINGO!

No, I mean literal Bingo, that was my corner square talking point so I think I get an extra raffle ticket, sweet.

Actually, I agree that the Clinton's, specifically Hillary Clinton's state department, did wrong by Haiti to push to keep their minimum wage lower (in part because she gained from it), and probably some other shit I don't know about/forget. I don't know enough about the policy and economics of Haiti to say that much on the topic, but I agree with the sentiment that part of their problems are caused by US policy.

This really does bring up a really good point Kiddo, I mean it. The involvement of the US as well as colonialism from Spain and France is the direct reason that Haiti faces the problems it has. Our western countries used and oppressed colonies like them for profit and became the economic and cultural powerhouses we know today. We should recognize that when we talk shit about them.

You made that comment but clearly favored one side. And the personal attacks are an in going thing that never gets addressed.

People disagree so they insult people or low key call them a racist for their views.

Why does he have a week left? Is that when DACA expires?

Yeah, it's why I liked @Kiddo 's post.. it's a valid point, but, should be considered in the much larger context of colonialism and its effects.

Of course I favor 1 side. Just like you favor 1 side. The message still stands. No one in here is changing the other side's opinion. Take a break before it gets out of hand.
