The unofficial Obamacare thread...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean, the guy just outright lied his way into the Presidency and proceeded to screw over so many of the people that voted him in.

The people who voted for him deserve what they get in some respects, but I'm still fascinated with the fact that so many people actually bought what he was selling:

Have there been any cuts to these services?

They also didn't mention that this was a key point the GOP crushed Democrats on during the original fight over the ACA. Status quo or not, it's shameful.

They certainly deserve all the shit they get, if for no other reason than this exemption is far down the list of reasons why this bill is terrible for the large majority of Americans, most especially those in need of adequate health coverage.

As usual, you completely ignored the most relevant point -- that there is a companion bill that strips any exemption from Congress.

I assume its a reference to the Medicaid expansion portion of ObamaCare, which I don't think many Trump voters actually supported in the first place.

In any case, I hope he breaks those promises and reforms all three of those programs.

"President Obama’s effort to control federal spending would require the largest cuts from the government’s biggest programs — health care and the military...
The president’s proposed budget(2014)...would require $57 billion in higher payments by Medicare beneficiaries, cut $306 billion in projected Medicare payments to health care providers and squeeze $19 billion out of Medicaid, the program for low-income people."

No outrage from the political hacks 4 years ago.

Is there a way to voice concern that will have any realistic chance of influencing how a member of congress will vote or am I better off just complaining on a sports message board?

I'm being serious. I see people posting phone numbers on twitter and FB and all this. Is that, in reality a huge waste of time?

My personal conspiracy theory.
We will see a flood of "news stories" in the next couple of years focusing on:
---The Homeless in America
---Hunger in America
---Lack of Affordable Housing
---Out-of-Control Deficit Spending
---Mistreatment of Our Elderly
---Income Disparity
---Evil Corporations
---Nazis, Facists and KKKers

Why?
Because:
1) Upwards of 90% of news people are leftwing.
2) A good chunk of them believe the ends justify the means. In other words, they value progressive ideology above professional integrity.
3) There's a large market of news consumers who will read and repost anything anti-Trump.

The same tactics were used by a few right-wing "news" outlets for the last 8 years, on a much smaller scale. But now you will be fed a mass diet of political propaganda by the mass media with seemingly credible sources like university studies, non-profits, foundations, "scientific" organizations and NGO's.
The left wants it's power back and doesn't much care who gets hurt in the process.

The challenge for us as individuals is to think independently and critically.
As my 7th grade science teacher used to say, "God or the primordial soup gave you a brain. Use it."

No. Someone posted some numbers for a member of the house of representives representing the state of NY. 1 line was busy. Another went to VM and the third was disconnected.

The only way to really get to the members of Congress, in my opinion, is to campaign against them or run for office. Everything else is futile.

All I need is a word for word transcript of the President speaking to know he is unfit for office.

HB, you seem bothered by recent events a bit more than most around here seem to let on.

I just wanted to ask, sincerely, are you OK?
