The Walking Dead

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That was a huge letdown.

Ohhh, the garbage people were bad! Nobody guessed that.... The Sasha death was okay, and the Kingdom/Hilltop arriving was okay, but the entire end gunfight was so absurdly unsatisfying. Junkyard bitch got away, Negan gets away (obviously), even Trevor from GTA5 gets away. Eugene gets away (fuck I wanted him blown up so bad, but of course, we were robbed of that satisfying moment ... cuz...junkyard people are bad...like we all knew).

Half the episode were close up shots of Sasha's face in the coffin listening to music, and another quarter was some stupid funky dream sequence bullshit of her and Abraham.

Goddamit. How did they fuck that up? That episode practically writes itself.

I didn't want to come out and say it was going to be shit. I'm so glad I read about it, didn't even watch it yet and Chris described it well enough.

Total shit show chasing $$$, and when shit becomes about only money, i tend to jump ship.

I used to be excited about this show's premiers and finales. Now I just can't find the same excitement.

They're stretching this to Pluto and back.

I mean, they don't throw us a single bone in 1.5 hours of TV show. We've spent 15 episodes watching Rick and the crew get beaten down, humiliated, and eat shit, basically. This...was the big pay off? I know the end was supposed to be a "victory" for them but the way it unfolded was just so unsatisfying.

Kind of sad this is the best they could come up with.

So where does this put Dwight? Is he still a good guy? Was that the little thing Daryl found at the end? I honestly have no clue.

Dwight carved that soldier. It said "Didn't Know" on it. I believe he meant that he did not know about the Garbage pail kids being turncoats.

Terrible, but I'm not surprised.

And yeah, some "victory" for our group of losers. They just lost a bunch of Alexandrians, lost all those guns to the dumpster people, lost Sasha, alerted the Saviors that the Hilltop and Kingdom are joining the fight against them... and should have lost all faith in Rick's decision-making for that debacle with the dumpster people that we all knew wouldn't end well since the beginning.

And what did they gain in this "victory"? At best they killed a couple dozen Saviors which is negligible considering the size of Negan's group.

At least boring ass season 7 ended fittingly. With a trash final cut of Herschel's pocket watch. WGAF?

Nothing happened the entire season after the premiere. Nothing.

That was what I figured.

Have to agree with this harsh assessment. I expected to be amped after this finale, but I'm just sitting here like, "Eh." There was nothing memorable about it at all. Not even Sasha's death, really. They showed too much and dragged it out too far into the episode, I think we all had that figured out by the time it happened, too.

For me, the only real highlight was Negan Rick and Carl. That exchange was great. I got chills when Rick told him again that he was going to kill Negan, "all of you, you're already dead." Was great. Ezekiel is pretty cool too.

But yeah, an hour and a half episode, a couple lines of dialogue shouldn't be the highlight.

Like every other episode, way too much useless filler.

Sorry, but Sasha doesn't wander out to the woods to be killed after all of the fighting by friendlies.

All of those bodies lying around and all of that noise would have kept her right there in the area of the skirmish.

What a weak way to end this long, boring season.

Show has gone downhill as Rick has been featured less. I think that's less a function of Andrew Lincoln than a symptom of stretching things out too long.

One consolation is that fighting both the Garbage Pail Kids and the Saviours opens up more options/less predictability during the war.

The actress who plays Sasha is supposed to be one of the leads in the upcoming Star Trek series. I suspect she wanted to move on. Regardless, she has the good fortune to get the hell off this show. What a mess it is.

Negan kills 5 members from the AZ and you can't give Rick/Viewers the satisfaction of killing either Simon or Arat? They'll rather insult our intelligence by stretching that death until the midseason finale after 6 filler episodes, background story about 1 of them next season

That's one thing bugging me today.

Where's @The Oi thoughts

The gunfight as a whole was just laughably bad. But they should have at least taken this chance to dispose of the awful trash people. No such luck.

The show has gotten too self-reverential about killing off characters. It's gotten worse over time, but now it's like the cast demands/expects massive focus on the character who is about to die. That not only telegraphs what is going to happen, but makes the whole thing come off as very unnatural when it finally happens.

The show is supposed to be for the benefit of fans, not the actors.
