Ugh. Felt like the first four episodes again. A bunch of scenes with no sense of who was where, or why, or what the hell was really going on. Convoys on the road with no explanation of why, or where they were going.
And I was about to spit when Maggie's convoy stopped. These people have been fighting for years, and the first freaking thing you donwhen vehicles stop is get the hell out, fast. They just all sat there, inexplicably passive as hell, until they were disarmed.
I wish it was the writers/directors who had all gotten bitten instead of Carl. The whole thing where all the snipers amd scouts.leave the Sanctuary, and nobody stayed to keep it under observation, was contrived as hell.
The whole damn episode made no sense.
Thought Rick said the snipers were all killed.
I think Rick assumed that because the snipers weren't there - he didn't know about Daryl's plan. But if all those snipers actually were killed, it isn't credible that Negan could have wiped all of them out simultaneously, with nobody able to raise the radio alarm at all. It just doesn't make any sense.
Speaking of which, the lack of radio communications between Rick's various groups was unexplained. The first group to be attacked would have radioed out a warning. Instead, these widely scattered groups, some of which were travelling, were all completely surprised.
Also, Eugene must know that Negan will learn sooner or later that he helped the doctor escape to Hilltop since capturing Hilltop is part of the plan. That makes me thimk Eugene has something up his sleeve. My pet theory is that Eugene "spiked" the replacement ammunition he made so that it won't work correctly once they start dipping into it. Thay will result in Negan's forces getting crushed at some critical point.
But maybe I missed this: what was Eugenes solution to the siege of Sanctuary? Did I miss that? Was it just they shot their way out and Eugene could make them new bullets?
You didn't miss anything -- they oddly left that completely unexplained.
Maybe the reason they did that was because how they got out is actually important to the story moving forward. If I'm guessing, they may have disassembled ammunition, collected the gun powder, and made bombs or grenades. They may have blown open a new exit with the explosives, escaped, then led the Z's away. That's important because it will mean they used up most of their ammo, which is a point they'll want to emphasize to viewers in the second half to set up Eugene's betrayal.
That’s a great theory and I think it’d be cool.

There was a scene with a short sequence where there was talk about them getting out with music playing in the background, and then someone said Eugene. So I assumed that meant he came up with some other way to play music and lead the walkers away.
Also I figured that most of the walkers went into the lower level of the building, and then got stuck on the stairs, even without any other mechanism to get them to leave, they would have been inside that area in many cases anyways.
