The Walking Dead

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sure I like only getting 10 minutes of each group in each episode, I think they can do it effectively the way they’ve been doing it... the content just needs to be better, the execution way sharper. Just my opinion.

Last nights episode was the best I've seen in seasons. Good writing and acting, compelling, etc etc. Rest should be stinkers. Great.

Agreed, it was much better than recent episodes. Still not 100% sure why they think there is a rat in their management group though. What am I missing? Just because their lookouts/outposts got raided?

I think it was the timing. The attacks happened on the exact day when all the outpost heads were at the Sanctuary, and the day after the M2's were moved from the Sanctuary to a different location. With all the leadership trapped inside the Sanctuary, the outposts are more likely to be poorly defended, less able to take intelligent action, etc.. And it enabled Rick's group to seize the M2's. So either that was just pure luck, or they were tipped off. Viewers know that it was because Rick was tipped off, though it admittedly is speculation by the Saviors.

100% the best episode of the show in at least a year. And it's because they focused more on a new dynamic with Neigen actually getting screen time while not being over the top. Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in.

Wow, figured I'd be alone but I was coming in here to post that last night was a great episode. I actually got off my PC and sat down to watch it. :chuckle: Hoping for more like that.

edit: I enjoyed the Gabriel/Negan dynamic. Them working together, their banter, etc. Negan appeared much more likable in that environment, dunno if it was intended or not. Still an asshole, but not so vile.

Rick and Daryl was meh. I mean do we need another pair of good guys fighting each other? We just had Morgan/Jesus...Rick and Daryl were even kinda fighting over the same shit...

Really good episode though, well written, I enjoyed the look inside Sanctuary. Even though I knew what was coming with Negan showing up at the big standoff, I enjoyed that scene.

Remember when this show used to be fun to talk about and speculate which is which?

I remember when it was fun to watch it and then complain about how bad it was.

Can't do that if you don't watch it any more, though, so I had to tap out. :(

2 in a row in my book. Thought there was excellent writing and decent acting last night....

Just wish they would do something about the gun battles. They just come off way too hokey, and need vast improvement. Let's see if they can get a bowling turkey next week.....

Hard to disagree on the gun fights. They have been awful

Still love the show. This season has definitely been a bit better than that shitshow we had to sit through in seven, especially the last two episodes.

Ironically enough, Gimple & co. advertised the first four episodes of the season as being incredibly intense and some of the best of the season, but I think they've been the four worst so far. 8x05 with Negan and Gabe and 8x06 were way better than those poorly choreographed war shows.

I mean come on. Where are they getting all of those bullets and how is everybody not dead within three minutes of all of that shooting? It's bad.

Presumably it was Gimple who made the horrible decision to not have any real exposition for the war, and instead have Rick & Co. keep all the plans and strategies hidden from viewers. So we basically had 3 hours of gunfights that were intended to paint a sort of impressionistic picture of what was happening. Each gunfight was a little dot, and it was only after there were a shitload of little dots that we could step back and see the larger picture.

I can't think of any successful war movie that was presented that way, and I can't think of many people whose attention could be held through three hours of unexplained and poorly executed gunfights.

The last two episodes have been far better, although Rick going by himself to visit the trashcan kids was not exactly well thought-out.
