The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Zelda going full Japanese.... You never go full Japanese, but, they did it.. :chuckle:

Also, I always envisioned Mario back in Brooklyn looking something like this:

I was referring only to the Mario vid. I've seen other Breath of the Wild vids and that game looks awesome.

The Mario stuff in the realistic city just looks terrible, though. Mario is a human, so why does he look nothing like the other humans? The graphics in that segment also look like dog shit, probably because Nintendo has like no experience making realistic visuals.

Looks fucking amazing...

Threw me off too... I didn't expect him to look like Super Mario 64 with everyone else looking non-super deformed.

Looks like Crazy Taxi 2 on the Dreamcast basically.

Still, the game mechanics look pretty solid, and hopefully the game is challenging...

It's a Nintendo Mario game. It'd be more shocking if the mechanics weren't solid. I mean, what's the last bad Mario game? Hell, the worst main console entry (meaning only Super Mario platformers...no spin-offs) in the series since the SNES is probably Sunshine, and even that game was pretty great.

The same goes for Zelda, I suppose. Zelda II was shitty, but beyond that the series is pretty spotless. I never played much of any of them after Wind Waker, but I know the Wii ones were well-reviewed.

I'm interested to hear Nintendo's reasoning at some point about the real people as well. That being said, the idea of taking Mario around a real city is pretty neat and the other worlds, seemingly inspired by reality but with a more cartoonish flare, seem cool too.

And man, Zelda looks epic as fuck.

A lot of people actually liked Zelda 2 though. It's their most mixed reaction game for sure because it was so different than the first game. Similar to how Mario 2 was so much different than the first.

Welp... I'm buying that console... Period.
I was on the fence because i do have a wii-u. I think i'm going to end up getting it though. I've loved every Nintendo console i've ever owned. I also think it will be amazing for on the go. Plane rides, breaks at work, long car rides, in the bed. I'm getting a bonus check from the state one of these days. So that's more than enough justification to pick one up.

Zelda looks great.

Probably gonna buy a Switch, cuz, I can afford it and I want Zelda. But I do hope other shit comes out that makes that purchase worth it.

It's a Nintendo console, so you can pretty much expect third parties to either ignore it or offer shitty ports, and the only worthwhile games will be from Nintendo and a select few other developers who actually develop games specifically for the console.

That's just where Nintendo is at now.

I'd be buying it for Zelda, Mario, and Metroid anyways.

Yup. That's pretty much why I've bought every Nintendo console I've ever owned. Since the GameCube, though, their third party support has just really dried up, probably because they're just so far behind tech-wise that ports to their systems are less practical.

I think the Switch is going to have to prove successful before you see third parties truly invest in the system. The system's design is supposed to make it easier to port to than the Wii U though, so maybe companies will be willing to give it a shot?

Improving the ease of porting would certainly be a smart step, but ultimately I think the power gap between the Switch and the main consoles will be what keeps a lot of developers from porting games over to it. That's been an issue the last two console generations with Nintendo.

Now that I actually make real money, it isn't an issue. I'll buy all 3 consoles if they all have games for me to play, and if there's one I want to play bad enough...well.... :chuckle:

If they showed a new Metroid Prime for Switch tomorrow, I'd be in line on day one for the console. Still likely will anyways due to BotW. Been planning on grabbing a PS4 for GoW/Bloodborne/Uncharted 4/Horizon as well, but at this point it's just become an issue of not enough time to ever play all of these games I have.

I might be stupid but I am planning a switch day one so I have it out of the way and can wait. I really want to play DQ or (Dragon Warrior) in a Nintendo console again and also I have more than many game and systems to keep me busy till the Mario game that I need... I mean want. Trust me as my dumb ass will take six months to figure the damn thing out before I get excited about games. I have a PS4 a Wii-U, and a 3DS yeah freaking Nintendo, However get a PS4 because it compliments Nintendo products perfectly. Bloodborne IMO is a masterpiece because it tells a story while not having a story but when you do know it. It goes very deep to the point it could be a Lovecraft Novel.

They should as 3rd parties said they love working with it but it is so new it will take time... Nintendo is yes scary about that. I have a PS4, and Windows so I cool if they lack it. My problem is this is starting out like the 3DS with nothing there but the 3DS taught me thing... Just wait my son. I love that hand held system more than any other since the Gameboy so yeah. We shall see and I love the idea to take Zelda BotW to the shitter... Hell yeah/
