The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Never played Ori.

Have wanted to, the soundtrack and visuals really intrigue me.

Wow, you are missing out. Play it. I was like you and waited awhile and ignored the hype, but it's been out a long time now. It's what, $10? Check it out.

Anthem... Bioware's cookie cutter response to Destiny.

Can't wait to be disappointed in it like everything else that Bioware has put out for 6 years.

Looks better than Destiny in all honesty, but who knows. We don't know much about gameplay.

It doesn't take much to be better than Destiny. Still don't have faith that Bioware can produce a decent game anymore. They certainly haven't for a while now.

I actually played about 15 hours of Andromeda and traded it in. It wasn't bad but definitely doesn't live up to the IP.

Don't get me wrong, I'll finish Andromeda. Same way I pushed my way through Inquisition.

But knowing that 90% of the original Bioware is gone, only to be replaced by a bunch of amateurs with 0 experience in gaming, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I actually have Inquisition digitally, never got too far into it but I liked what I played. Was actually really enjoying it.

Andromeda, I just didn't feel the magic I felt with the original trilogy. Even 3.

I lost interest in Inquisition pretty quickly and then just didn't even bother with Inquisition. Too many other great games out there.

Side note...playing Divinity: Original Sin in co-op with one of my buddies and it's fun as hell. Very creative how all of the various elements in the game play off of each other.

Don't give a shit about Anthem. If it's anything like Destiny, pass.

Have you seen Divinity 2? I didn't play the original but I'm building a new PC, so interested in getting a couple games this year maybe. And that is on my list. Its early access is getting some of the most glowing reviews I've seen for early access, and I think the full game just finally got a release date for September.

Second game seems like more of the same, with some upgraded systems and four player co-op. And I mean that in a good way. The first game is great. I love all the little touches, like how you can shoot a water arrow to create a liquid surface, then either freeze it or electrify it. Or you can shoot a poison cloud and then detonate it with fire. Or electrify a steam cloud. The second game seems to be keeping all of that and adding additional elemental interactions, which should make combat even more of a nightmare than it can be in Original Sin. :chuckle:

Hopefully I can find three friends to play co-op with for it. I've got at least one and possibly two. Just need to find the fourth. Gotta be people who are online a reasonable amount of time though to make it work. Supposedly characters can actually work against each other in the sequel, with varying objectives based on how they align themselves in the game. Sounds like a lot of fun if you've got three friends.

Also, there's apparently a full D&D style separate game included that can be played with five people (one of whom is the dungeon master). I read an article about it and it sounded really cool, and that's coming from someone who has never played D&D.

Anyone play the new Warhammer 40K Dawn of War? Really a fan of the original, but reviews were hit or miss for this one.

I'll play with you, although I don't know if I can commit to being online a ton. :chuckle: And I'm pretty much a newbie, haven't played a lot of RPGs of that type nor the original, just watching videos and reading impressions and it piqued my interest so I want to play it.

I'd recommend grabbing the first game next time it's on sale. It's a great game.

Totally would, but I have like half dozen games on my plate at the moment and I'm trying to finish them before buying anymore, haha. I remember the days when I used to be able to play games nonstop and not worry about anything. :chuckle: Now I'm turning 28 this month and I hardly have any time at all for the hobby I grew up with, and to be honest it'll probably only get worse as time goes on and I get married, have kids, etc. My brother is married with 3 kids, has been trying to beat Far Cry 4 for over a year. Says he is able to play games in like 15-30 minute intervals, at best.

And it seems like games these days just keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Like Andromeda was just stupidly big. I knew I'd never finish it, and it wasn't that great to begin with, so I was fine trading it in. I did the same with Fallout 4, never finished it, although that was actually a really good game. So many others. It's why I appreciate games like Ori. They're $20 when they come out, and take like 8-10 hours to beat. Perfect. Even gems like Dishonored, could take up to 12-15 hours, but I feel like I get my money's worth out of them and they don't sit on my shelf for 3 years as I try to finish them and feel bad because I never do.

Wish developers would focus on creating a compelling and memorable experience rather than Bigger=Better.

Totally off topic, but anyway.

I am rehooked on the paradox games. Hearts of Iron, Crusader Kings, Europa...all great games if you are into history. Or, you can find mods that can totally change the game. For example, AGOT mod for CK2 is AMAZING.
