The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Loaded up MGS5 again.

I just think the stories got terrible after 3. 3 wasn't even that good . 1 was literally the only really solid one. It's insufferable now.

Don't like the setting so far. Tired of the jungle. Been fighting in jungles for 3 games straight now.

Also seems like you can just shoot your way out of anything so far.

Navigating using both sticks is tedious so far. Assigning way too many functions to way too many buttons. Have no idea what they're on about with beating up your comrades and parachuting them away to research and development and receiving cardboard boxes in return. Just kind of goofy. Too much going on.

Just give me a good fucking story and creative battles and enemies and structures to navigate.

I thought the decision to go open world with MGS5 was good in some ways, but it also took away from what I really liked about the series. On the plus side, it allowed for a ton of gameplay creativity. There are just so many different ways you can play the game, and that's awesome. It made it one of the better open world games I've played.

The down side, though, is that, to me, Metal Gear Solid has always been a series that's about the story as much if not more than the gameplay. The fifth game just lacked the compelling story and characters of previous installments. It had some of that, but not nearly enough, and it was spaced out very poorly. You'd go hours without a significant cut-scene, especially if you were focusing on side ops and such. I get that some people may have complained that the previous games were too heavy on the cut-scenes, and they probably weren't wrong, but I felt MGS5 overcorrected way too much. It felt like Kiefer was charging them by the line, so they mostly just didn't give him any.

I get all this. I felt overwhelmed at first too. Then I just kept going and everything just started to feel natural and I started to enjoy the game.

I also went online and started doing some research on the game's story because the last MGS game I played was #2 with Raiden.

THIS, YES! OMG, it felt like the main character was a mute, like Quiet.

And fuck having to play the hospital crawling mission twice. I HATED that mission.

Did anyone finish that game and see the real ending? Was pretty awesome, and MGS-esque in its ridiculousness.

The endings (movie-like) are half the reasons to play MGS, at least for me.

Arms is pretty damn fun. I'm excited to get my hands on the full game after having played the beta the past couple weekends. It will be interesting to see if it catches on with the FGC at all.

One of the better endings of any game I've ever played too. Up there with MGS3.

The little interactions between Joel and Ellie alone make this game undeniably great. I've never played a game so smooth when it comes to those little details.

New Ori announced. Will of the Wisps, like was leaked.

Trailer was amazing.

Thought Anthem looked fucking awesome.

Hope there's somewhat of a story for it and good competitive multiplayer.
