The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, I'm liking it so far. It's like Shadow of Mordor, just way bigger with much more to do.

Bit the bullet and purchased it over the weekend myself. I was a huge fan of the first and quickly found myself sucked right back into it's rich gameplay. 2 hours just flies by when you're playing it b/c there is so much to do.

I was a bit frustrated that all my melee moves from Shadow of Mordor were gone so i spent the majority of it just trying to up my levels fighting groups of orcs until i started to running into captain after captain. I decided to play it on the Nemesis difficulty per Reddit suggestions because that gets the most out of the gameplay but without my Mordor skills, I had to tuck my tail and take off quite a bit. Itching to play it after work already.

Might tomorrow. Worth?

If you were a fan of the first game, You will enjoy it. The new gameplay components centered on castle sieges has me excited. If you've never played the first one, I'd say Shadow of War is a must buy.

Yeah, I had some spare time over the weekend to play and it was hard to put the controller down. Haven't felt that way about a game in awhile.

At first I was also a little frustrated, you want to go fight captains and start recruiting and stuff but you can't because they are 15 levels higher than you :chuckle: But looking back now I appreciate the struggle you start with and the process you take to become powerful. The entire first act of the game is basically like a prelude, setting you up for the real thing.

I also like how they tied in the nemesis & follower from Shadow of Mordor. Really cool stuff.

Loved Shadow of Mordor and this game is basically an expanded, more detailed version of it.

Pro-tip: If you want to buy packs for gear/followers, don't use real money. You can get gold from the Totino's promo:

https://totinos.promo.eprize.com/shadowofwar/

It's a limit of 300 gold per email. But you can use an unlimited amount of emails and redeem unlimited codes on your one XBL account. In other words, as long as you create emails, you can get unlimited gold. And you don't need to buy the shitty Totino's :chuckle: You can just take a picture of the code on the back of the package.

I didnt play the original really. So it'd feel pretty fresh to me I think. It looks hella fun. I've just seen a lot of people super critical of it, has me hesitant. But it certainly looks like a ton of fun.

Most of the complaints I've seen revolve around the microtransactions. But you don't need to pay to win. And as I just posted, you can get the stuff for free...although I don't know who else knows about that, I figured it out myself. Regardless, I'm not sure why it's bothering people so much since you don't need to buy them.

As far as the game itself, I haven't seen too many complaints.

TF2 is always a great game to come back to. Especially around Halloween.

The videos they make are always amazing too. It's a shame they don't make them more often.

Hell, Valve could probably make a cartoon TV series with the TF2 characters. I'd watch the hell out of that.

Played the first four hours or so of South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Definitely has not been as funny as the first game was over that time span. I do enjoy the revamped combat, which requires a bit more strategy and takes character positioning into account. I'm not really deep enough into the game to judge the depth of that combat, though, as I've only leveled up twice and there's presumably a ton of content left.

I'm hoping the comedy aspect picks up a bit as the game moves forward. I've laughed several times but I remember being totally sold on the first game just from playing the demo, which I think was the first hour or so and was hilarious. I haven't really felt that with this one. It starts slow and hasn't really picked up a whole lot yet. The best part was a side mission I did for the police and contributed this line of dialogue: "Be on the look out for any shady characters. You know what shade I'm talking about." I won't spoil the actual mission they send you on, but the second I entered the house they tell you to go to to bust up a violent drug dealer, I was laughing.

Fortnite. Free Xbox download. Pretty fun

Yes and NO for me.

I tried that game, and Solo is kind of annoying. Squad is a lot of fun.

When you solo, literally you can die within the first minute of landing on the ground. Then you have to go through matchmaking all over again right away. Furthermore, dealing with hunting for weapons, watching your back, and trying to do mining and construction seemed a little overwhelming for my taste.

Squad matchmaking has definitely been more fun. I have enjoyed how you can stick together and try and survive. But now you can share duties. One person can deal with construction while the others watch his back. I dunno, just moments like that made it more fun than playing solo.

Solo is super sweaty. Haven't had much success.

Duos I'm playing around with and getting better

Squad is where it's at. So much fun especially with a full party of mics. I have three wins under my belt and hoping to add more tonight. Yet to win in solo or duos

Super Mario Odyssey, Is awesome and in the Dessert Level I found a "Suikoden music and sounds of recruitment.

Get this Game if you have a Switch. You would be a fool not to.

Updated South Park impressions:

I'm at around the 15 hour mark now. No idea how much time is left in the game, although I suspect I'm closing in on the end. I've completed basically every side quest the game has given me thus far. Not sure if there are others to come but I think I'm nearing the final act.

Overall, it's been enjoyable. I think I preferred the first game a bit. I thought Stick of Truth started out much stronger, although to be fair The Fractured But Whole definitely does pick it up after a too slow opening act. The humor is typical South Park. It makes fun of anything and everything without much of a message behind it just like the show. If you find the show funny, you'll probably find the game funny. I'm not a huge fan of what the show has become (I just don't find the newer episodes all that funny), but the game has enough laugh out loud moments even for someone like myself to justify playing it.

The story is dumb and ridiculous, but you should know that going in. It's South Park. The gameplay is fun, albeit not terribly deep. You and three companions fight against enemies on a grid and combat is turn-based. Sometimes combat will introduce optional objectives, and sometimes enemies can't be killed with simple combat prowess. I wish there was a bit more to it, and that my companions had more than four abilities each (in contrast, my character has access to dozens of abilities but can only equip four at a time), but it's a fun enough system.

Overall, I'd recommend it. It takes some time to hook you in, but once it did I had a couple of marathon sessions where I played for at least a couple of hours instead of dinking and dunking like I did with the first couple of hours.

I'll update once more when the game is done.
