The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Really interesting article on Kotaku about everything that went wrong with the Visceral Star Wars game that EA recently canceled.

I liked it because it exposed that the problems were clearly not solely on EA here despite everyone jumping to that conclusion (which, to be fair, had logic behind it given EA's reputation). Visceral clearly had a game that was too ambitious for their team, which was compounded by EA failing to give them the necessary manpower and resources to make it. They also put someone in charge who, by all accounts, was brilliant from a creative standpoint but ill-suited to manage the technical aspects, and the lack of anyone on her level to supervise the gameplay design meant that people were often waiting weeks or months for feedback because she was overextended.

Just a really enlightening piece about everything that went wrong with this game.

Ive heard the new Assassin's Creed is basically The Witcher 3.

Not sure if that was just opening week hype or what. Any impressions guys.

I don't know anything about Witcher, but this AC isn't like any other AC. Totally different game. Not really my thing but I'm sure many people love it.

I never thought I'd buy another COD game, but the zombies in WW2 looks like a ton of fun. I played the MP beta as well and it was pretty good.

I am intrigued to see if the series improves by heading back to its roots. I've always thought the best Call of Duty games were the first few WWII games. Modern Warfare was awesome too, but the series hasn't really come close to that quality since.

Edit: Just checked to see how much the original CoD was to potentially buy it for nostalgia purposes. Twenty fucking bucks? Are you kidding me? Fuck you, Activision.

It looks good, but haven't gotten it yet.

As for CoD, I dunno. I found the stuff in AW and IW more interesting than bare bones WW2 shit, to be honest.

I thought the first two CoD games were fantastic. I'm sure they probably don't feel like anything special now, but at the time they were released (which is when I played them), they were incredible experiences with some of the best sound design of their time.

To me, CoD is meant to be either a past or present war game. If I wanted to play in outer space with jetpacks, I'd play Halo or Destiny or something like that.

Yeah, it was a poor mix with sci-fi.

I thought the series jumped the shark after Modern Warfare. It just started to get too ridiculous, like a bad Michael Bay movie, rather than being the relatively serious series it was before MW. You go back and play the first two games and they feel like they're a different fucking game series. A much better one, too.

Can't decide if I want to buy the new cod now or wait for Christmas. Nazi zombies has always been my favorite part so I'm tempted to buy now
