Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'll have to rewatch the video again but I would expect him to be able to muscle guys in summer league. Also I thought his footwork could be a lot better, dragged his pivot foot frequently. Though probably not a travel in the NBA unless you're Mozgov and about to help win a game against the Warriors in the Finals.

Ok, so rewatching the video again, he looks a little better than the first time. Hopefully he turns out, but I still don't have the hopes of some of you. Hope I'm wrong...

The thing I like is that he may be an effective bench hustle big that can rebound and drive to the basket right away. Later on I think he has a lot of offensive upside.

Jake was decent his 2nd year 7 points 5 rebounds in 23 MPG but give the kid a chance before comparing him to Jake we haven't even seen him play yet.

Here's Kevin Pelton of ESPN on Zizic. He was very high on him before, and less high on him now. But Pelton still apparently seems to think Zizic can be a useful NBA player.

"What can Cleveland expect out of Zizic? Is he a solid prospect or just a throw-in?"

-- Alex Barcham

After seeing Zizic play for the Boston Celtics this summer both in the Utah Jazz Summer League and the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, I'm not quite as high on his potential as when I ranked him fifth in a re-draft of the 2016 NBA draft late in the season. (Zizic was actually taken 23rd overall.)

Particularly in Utah, Zizic struggled with NBA-caliber athleticism. He looked slow and mechanical by comparison. Zizic was more effective in Las Vegas, averaging 9.3 points and 8.5 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game while shooting 60 percent from the field. Based on his performance overseas, I suspect Zizic will find a way to be productive and efficient, but the fact that he's largely groundbound limits his ceiling as a finisher and a rim protector.

My expectation for a median outcome for Zizic's career is him averaging about 20 minutes per game, either as a starter or a reserve, and putting up good per-minute numbers. There's value in that but certainly not as much as I previously thought in a league that's suddenly saturated with solid but unspectacular centers.

I don't think Zizic is ever going to be a serious shot-blocker. And my guess is he may never become a permanent starter.

Otherwise, though, I agree with the view that perhaps he becomes a 20 minutes per game guy who can be at least somewhat productive for you.
