re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

The writing was always on the wall for these two. It's either them or D12 who is going to leave. They missed a great opportunity of netting nice pieces for Howard during the trade deadline.

You're probably the same idiot that thought Lebron wasn't given every opportunity in the world to win a title. Was it also either Mike Brown or Lebron... no. It was both, same thing will ring true in Orlando. Time for the rebuild in Orlando.

re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

Dwight did the same thing to Orlando that LeBron did to Cleveland, if not worse. Did Otis make mistakes, yes, but he was forced to do something and the types of moves he was forced to make were detrimental to the future of the organization.

Maybe "forced" is too strong of a word but you know what I mean.

Charlotte should hire Van Gundy.

True...but the Rashard Lewis contract was perhaps the worst move a GM has made in years.

re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

Chris Sheridan reported last night Dwight wants out. Here we go again...

re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

I don't see why this move suggests that Dwight would be willing to stay ? The Magic situation is stale..... Even going to a team like the Nets would be far more fresh than returning to the Magic....

Greg Kite should get the Magic gig...... That's just my opinion on the ORLANDO MAGIC COACHING SITUATION......OKAY ?

re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

Yeah, going to Jersey makes no sense as Derron Williams likely wont be there as he seems like he'll be heading to Dallas somehow...no talent there to accompany Dwight.

re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

I'm of the belief that there are three different types of coaches in the NBA. There are guys who can develop players, and guys who can win games. Guys like SVG and Larry Brown have always been in the latter category. I think guys like Byron Scott and Mike Brown are in the former. The rarest coach are guys who do both. Phil Jackson and Greg Popovich come to mind.

The Cavs aren't gearing up to compete for a championship in the next two years. Byron is a much better fit for this team than SVG would be right now.

re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

Really? Get rid of Byron for Van Gundy? Puh-lease.

Let's be realistic, Stan hasn't achieved anything in this league that Byron hasn't also achieved himself. While everyone loves his personality, and while they remember that he coached circles around Mike Brown(Which wasn't hard considering MB's personnel choices to guard Dwight were an old Z, a one-legged Ben Wallace, and a leaner Varejao), they forget about his gimmicky three point barrage offense being completely exposed in the finals, and they forget about his full-strength Orlando team barely beating a KG-less Celtics squad that same year. Van Gundy is a good coach, I am not saying he is bad, but I think it's ridiculous to pencil him in as a "top 3 coach" and say the Cavs should replace Byron Scott with him if they have the chance. Do people not remember the Master of Panic? He got bounced early with rising star D-Wade and still-prime Shaq and then ran out of town by Shaq and Riley, who might be narcissistic jackasses but they know how to win rings, they have plenty of hardware to show for it.

On top of that, you'd want to immediately shatter what has already become a strong working relationship between Byron and our young superstar; the current and future face of our franchise? Nonsense. That's stuff that gets general managers fired. Byron is a great coach for developing a young team and he has more hardware than Van Gundy, partially because of the guy who thought Van Gundy wasn't good enough so he had to step in and do it himself.

In the end, I like Stan Van Gundy as a coach. He's good, he's smart, players generally play hard for him. I love him as a personality, he's honest, blunt, witty, humorous. It's a shame that things had to end for him the way they did, he did a lot for Dwight as a player. He'll find an opportunity elsehwere without too much trouble. (L.A., anybody? :chuckles: )

re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

The Magic really started a downward spiral after the Lakers final and they made all those changes to their lineup..as a reaction to the Cavs aquiring Shaq to face Howard..they never retained the chemistry they had and then all the disconent inside the organization..and anyone thinking Scott should be replaced with Van-Gundy is really sipping some powerful crap..

They made a lot of bad moves. They should have kept Turkoglu instead of trading for him after he got fat and out of shape. The Rashard Lewis contract was abysmal, and after he got caught taking steroids he started falling off of a cliff(/bitter cleveland fan).

re: 2012 Orlando Magic and Rent-a-Dwight

I wasn't a big Stan Van Gundy fan, but he didn't deserve this. The funny thing is that Dwight is still gonna leave.
