Tracy McGrady

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I could not find a T-Mac thread, and for some reason there was one deleted.

But ESPN Rumors says T-Mac will start playing more minutes and be showcased so teams become interested in trading for him.

He only played 7 minutes last night but had three rebounds and swished a 3 pointer, also missing a shot.

We all know he's talented, and even though he's been injured for the past few years, I think this time his comeback is different. Why? Because he seeked out a different trainer who explained in an article (I'll try to find it) how T-Mac's body was very unbalanced and had a weak core. This whole time he's been rehabbing, he's strengthened his core, back, legs, and overall just kept his body balanced. Well that is what they said and what I believe. So if he's looking fit and healthy and somewhere near the old T-Mac who still draws attention, I think he'd be perfect for us.

Sooner or later we will trade Delonte if he stays unreliable. The Rockets need size for this season and Z will provide that. If we trade Z and Delonte for T-Mac, it'd be like trading expiring contracts for expiring contracts, EXCEPT:

They get rid of T-Mac who they believe will mess up their chemistry. They get back in return a one season replacement for Yao, and a guard who can fit right in if he's healthy and if not, well....they can cut him over the summer, can't they?

Us on the other hand...we hope Powe comes back healthy. But at the same time, we lose an unstable Delonte and we get a proven scorer in T-Mac, someone who can create his own shot and draw attention. Shaq is past his prime, T-Mac would be past his prime, and Mo just isn't a great 2nd option. But all three of them together would cause major problems as they aide LeBron.

On top of all that, we'd finally be stacked on the talent side of things when compared to the Magic, Celtics, Lakers, and Nuggets.

Imagine us vs. Orlando: Shaq vs. Dwight, LeBron vs. Shard, Mo vs. Jameer, and the COUSINS, T-Mac vs. VC. Just sayin'....

I think IF T-Mac comes out looking healthy, we make a serious push for him. Like I said, if he can still draw some attention, create his own shot, and score, he will be very valuable to us, especially come playoff time.

So let's keep an eye on him....

EDIT: This is if an Antawn/David West scenario fails...

I am a big proponent of getting Jamison and all I hear is how he is always hurt, well since 03 Jamison has played 82,68,82,70,79 and 81 up to this year.Tracy in the same time frame has played 67,78,47,71,66 and 35.
Also I didn`t realize how bad of a shooter he is,he hasn`t been above 45% since 02-03 while his 3 point shooting is low 30%.
I am curious as to if we would trade West it would be because he is having problems and doesn`t play so why would anyone else want this?I also think that we should be able to get more for those two than an oft injured guy.
Didn`t I read that Z might retire if traded? That would really blow and damper the outlook of our team.

Wow. That would be crazy if we could get him in a buyout situation cheap. I don't know how likely that is though.

The buyout situation is something I've thought about before, it's gonna take ALOT of luck to pull of a T-Mac deal. It depends on how much he wants to play, but he'd have to take a considerable paycut to pull it off.

I think we'd have a great chance of him choosing us though, it would be a contender. LA don't need him at all, he won't go back to Orlando for too many reasons, Boston have 3 allstar level guards/wings, San Antonio wouldn't take him and Atlanta have no spot for him. Denver could use him too I guess.

But the attraction of playing with Shaq and LeBron could be something that brings him here if he's a free agent.

Z (with cash for buyout) for Okafor, Shaq for McGrady. Get it done.

New Orleans almost sent Okafor to the Kings as a straight dump for Kenny Thomas (a washed up 6-7 forward) so I don't see a problem with them buying out Z.

Houston needs a big and they don't want to take on any salary other than this year.

My friends give me the hardest time here in Houston, they know I lived in Cleveland for 6 years but they still do not buy me not being a Rockets fan. I tell them all the time the Rockets will become my second team when they have gotten rid of Tracy McLady. The irony of him landing in Cleveland would probably make me eat the barrell of my 45.

You guys are kidding me right? Lack luster defense, the heart of a squirrel and a Volume shooter. Tracy, has little to any heart and has never but up effecient numbers. He is a volume scorer who only knows one way and that way is 20- 23 shots a game. Everyone on here wants him because of his career scoring average and those numbers, then in the same breath suggest he take a smaller role? So what happens when he signs here and lets say he is 100% healthy come the play-offs ( even though we all know he won't be) and he averages 8 pts 3 rebs and 2 assists. You guys will call him a failure and want to run him out of town. There was a time in his career when this might of worked but it is not know. This is past a stretch, even for this part of the RCF.

Redd makes more sense than this to be honest.

i'm not a big fan of tmac either (for example i would never want him and his huge deal in a trade) but if you can sign him for the vet. minimum after he got bought out i would absolutely make it. that's a no brainer in my opinion even if it doesn't work out you can still waive him....

that being said i think houston is just showcasing him right now to trade him in february. i heard new york could be interested in his expiring...

I doubt the Knicks would be able to get rid of Curry's contract, which still has another year on it, unless something happens on the Yao front and the Rockets feel that Curry would be worth the risk in order to give them some height and size on their front line. It would make more sense to just buy TMAC out if that's the case.

A buyout might be the most likely option. Unless the Rockets want to take back some bad contracts, there's no one who's going to trade for him. Financially, the Rockets would be better off just buying him out unless they're trading expiring for expiring.

Since this picture is gigantic, I will simply post the link.

Why the hell would we trade Shaq? Moreover, why would you think that this trade would be heralded as anything but absurd? Go back to Cavsfanatic.

He is bad luck, and not a winner. His rehabbing is notoriously bad. I don't want him.

z and west for mcgrady is a good deal... it always amazes me how much fans overrate their own players. the cavs still have shaq and andy at center and once powe starts to play they'll have him and hickson at pf.

Like I said, I believe this time his rehabbing has been different and he may be healthier than he's ever been...but that remains to be seen.

I stated numerous times in my first post, let's take a WAIT-AND-SEE approach. I said IF he does well and is moving well, we try to acquire him.

Anyways, if the Rockets are interested, we try to pull some shady stuff....have them buy out T-Mac, of course, after he talks with LeBron and says he wants to sign here. Then we give them Delonte for scraps.

Not sure how I would feel about T-Mac, but man do I love looking back at that 13 points in 35 seconds game against the Spurs...

A healthy TMAC makes us one hell of a team, I don't care what anyone says this guy is an all star straight up.

We are in no rush however, monitor it and if the oppurtunity arises get the deal done. He has a few months to prove his fitness and health, if he proves it we must go for him imo.

McGrady = 1st round finish

Some things never change...I'm not sure I want to gamble on this one not being one of them.
