Trade Deadline ––> Waiver/Buyout Deadline 2015 (March 1)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If I recall correctly, about half the roster was injured when JR played his first game. Blatt didn't have much of a choice but to play him.

At the same time, it's not like Perkins needs a practice to understand that he needs to come in for ten minutes, set some screens, and rebound.

He had a 10-day deal lined up with Brooklyn.

This is why they're claiming him, still a dick move. :chuckle:

Oh I know, and totally a dick move I agree. But I figure - fuck Brooklyn. Just glad it wasn't us that got screwed :chuckle:

The guy has been traded 3 times and waived once.

Why would anybody want to touch him?

How many teams has Hassan Whiteside been on? Gotta give young bigs a chance, they take time to develop.

Actually been on? Two. Thomas Robinson also doesn't have a rare talent like Whiteside has...you know, being 7'0 with long arms and all.

I mean...

20102012 Sacramento Kings
2010–2012 Reno Bighorns (D-League)
2012–2013 Sioux Falls Skyforce (D-League)
2013 Rio Grande Valley Vipers (D-League)
2013 Amchit Club (Lebanon)
2013 Sichuan Blue Whales (China)
2013–2014 Al Mouttahed Tripoli (Lebanon)
2014 Jiangsu Tongxi (China 2nd)
2014 Iowa Energy (D-League)
2014 Sioux Falls Skyforce (D-League)
2014–present Miami Heat

See above post. He's been on far more than 2 teams. Pedantic, I know, but I didn't say NBA teams for a reason...

Well I took it as NBA teams, seeing as how we are discussing his NBA potential, not his D League or Euro potential...whole point is I think that you are majorly mistaken comparing Thomas Robinson's situation to Whiteside's. I get that bigs take longer to develop than most players, but sometimes players are who they are. Think that's the case with T-Rob.

But he couldn't even stick with all of those non-NBA teams... Do you see why it's not smart to give up on bigs early in their career?

Depends on the type of player. I sure as hell wouldn't give up on an athletic 7 footer, but sometimes they just aren't there mentally yet (in the case of Whiteside) and they need a kick in the ass or a reality check (happened to Danny Green too), but a tweener who doesn't play much defense and hasn't shown an improvement in offensive skills in 3 years? I'd be more inclined to look for other opportunities, which is why I think he hasn't stuck around on a team yet, though I'll give him a pass for getting traded by the Rockets for cap to sign Dwight. And nowhere did I say I am giving up on T-Rob, I'm just saying I think at his very best he'll give you the same amount of production in more minutes and hit close to his current per 36 numbers, which is essentially what Tristan puts up per game.

How is he a tweener? He certainly has legit PF size. His numbers aren't terrible per minute, though his efficiency hasn't ever been great. He certainly showed more skill in college than TT ever did. I think he's just a guy that hasn't ever gotten a fair shake (because of attitude?) with a decent chunk of skill. If he figures it out, he'll be solid.

For Philly, I think it was a no-brainer, young guy with potential at a low price that doesn't really cost them anything.
