Trade Deadline - Feb 8 at 3:00 EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Who else is going to score on that roster?

I do agree that he would be an upgrade over TT but if you look at his +/- against GS over the years, you won't like what you see. He's also about to hit 30, which scares me because his entire game relies on his athleticism.

Trading for him would be a win now move and i'd be hesitant to move Cedi in a deal like that.

The Clippers, as a team, have been abysmal against Golden State. Doesn't seem reasonable to single out Deandre Jordan's plus / minus in this scenario.

I think people are pouring way too much stock into Cedi, his ceiling is starter / role player. You're talking about trading young player with the upside of a starter / role player for an all NBA center with at least 2 prime years left. Why are we even flinching at that?

For the Thunder to fall out, they would need to get dropped 5 games in the standings to fall all the way to the Jazz. I don't see the Jazz making it in & I don't see the Thunder falling all the way out.

OTOH Being around .500 and the 8th spot is going to be a precarious position for them. You really risk George walking in that situation when your looking at likely facing GS in the first round. Wouldn't seem to attractive from George's perspective to stay away with a team whose also salary capped out with Melo. They may choose to do it but it would make a move much more likely

And if they are in that position, I think we could help them save face with their fans by facilitating a trade to send them a player who can help them stay in the playoff race this year, such as Lou Williams or Tyreke Evans.

Cavs get: Paul George
OKC gets: Tyreke Evans, JR, Frye, BKN pick (damn good haul for them)
Grizz get: Osman

Their front-office would have to be ignorant as fuck to not even at least listen to offers if they're floating around .500 at the TDL!!!!

Yeah I’m getting a 2009-2010 JJ hickson vibe from this fan base about cedi. I like him and I think he’ll be a solid starter but he shouldn’t get in the way of trade that could help us win a title.

Hickson was... well that stuff he had inside his cranium, let’s say it wasn’t optimized...

Yea I'm gonna be with the Cavs on holding onto that Brooklyn pick. Possibly not having the Brooklyn pick, as well as LBJ leaving is a tough way to start a rebuild.

This will go against a bit of what I have said in the past but seeing TT and JR and the money they have left on their deals, I might consider moving the Brooklyn pick IF it was a deal like this:

CLE IN: Jordan, Williams
CLE OUT: JR, TT, BK Pick

To me, that is the all in move if you are going to do it. Maybe you can also ask for a young wing asset like Dekker but if you are diving head first in to the pool, you have to cycle out the two awful contracts we have on our books IMO.

I know JR is partially guaranteed in the last year but we owe those guys a ton of money and they are useless. That would clear 30 mil off our cap next season and give us a lot more financial flexibility pending LeBron's free agency. It would also greatly increase our chances this year.

If LeBron leaves, you just bottom out and gut the roster, having already moved the absolutely (to me) immovable players sans Lebron (TT & JR). Also, I think shedding the salary would open up S&T opportunities to collect assets from IT, LeBron and Deandre, wherever they go. A cap-ologist can correct me if I'm wrong there though. That would just be a nice bonus.

Read this one today - kind of like it for the reasons given.

  1. Cleveland Cavaliers Receive (after Jan. 14): SG/SF Tyreke Evans, PF JaMychal Green

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: SG Iman Shumpert, C Ante Zizic, Cleveland's 2018 first-round pick, 2020 second-round pick (via Miami Heat)

The Memphis Grizzlies are hoping to net a first-rounder in exchange for Tyreke Evans, per Wojnarowski.

Fewer teams than normal, however, will meet this asking price. Evans is undergoing a revival amid the Grizzlies' implosive tailspin, averaging 19.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists on a career-best effective field-goal percentage. But Memphis doesn't possess his Bird rights after he signed a one-year deal for the biannual exception this past summer. Any squad acquiring him will do so knowing he's a serious flight risk in July, if not an irretrievable rental.

Pairing Evans with JaMychal Green makes it easier for the Cavaliers to forfeit a first-rounder, as both players strengthen Cleveland's case against the Golden State Warriors. Evans is no lockdown defender, but he can pester most wings, and Green is a quality switcher at the 5 in pocket-sized lineups.

I'm so pissed that Pat Beverley got hurt for the Clippers. I would kill for that kind of player on this team. As hardnosed as they come, one of the best defensive guards of the last five years, good outside shooter, takes pretty good care of the ball, the absolute perfect counter to guys like Irving and Curry.

I don't want Lou Williams. We have enough no defense guys that only care about scoring here. He's just another guy that'll come in and take shots away from our elite scorers.

Cats are giving way too much here and OKC are stealing value.

If you want to dump both JR and TT in such a trade, it is the only way to make that happen (from a Clips salary perspective). Those guys are absolute dead weight right now. I'd take back Williams if if meant getting that anchor off our neck.

You could always flip Williams to someone for a more versatile defensive player if that's what you preferred. If Atlanta wanted to dump Bazemore's contract (it sounds like they do), you could send them Shump and Williams (effectively two expirings).

A trade bringing back Jordan and getting rid of JR and TT is more of a long term flexibility play. Not saying it is the ideal scenario, it's somewhere in the middle of superstar (ideal) and doing nothing (less than ideal).

Thats a deal that would be really interesting for the cavs ,,bet Gilbert would be salivating to get rid of those 2 contracts and it wipes the slate clean for next year if Lebron leaves. You would just have to clear out Love and Korver to start from the bottom again. Not sure the Clips would want to take on that much salary.
They would have like 85-90 million tied thru 19/20 season between Griffin/Gallinari/Thompson and Smith alone. Your not going very far with that big 4. I wouldn't do it if I was them. Very interesting though.

JR, TT, BKN Pick for DJ, Lou Will.

Get rid of 2 atrocious contracts for a legit rim protector and guy who can create his own and light it up from 3.

Would prefer to keep the Brooklyn pick but I don’t think we can if we want to also salary dump.
