Trade Rumor(s)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think they will tbh.

Really? DeRozan just got the max. He's going to be making $27 mill next year. Lowry will likely get the same or more. Ibaka will probably get offers in the $20 mill+ range. That means you're committing over $80 mill to three guys, none of which have the ability to truly carry a team.

Then you throw in Carroll and Valanciunus at $14 mill and you're well over $100 mill for those five. That's a lot of money (and tax money) to pay for a team that still isn't good enough to beat a healthy Cavs teams in a 7 game series.

That was such a short-sighted, silly move by Toronto. You aren't winning a title this year, and you aren't paying Lowry and Ibaka next year.

Dumb.

I thought the same thing but now it seems obvious what direction the Raptors are looking to go in the future.

With that said, I don't think they do this trade if Ujiri wasn't planning on paying Ibaka and Lowry. I mean, they aren't going to let Lowry walk, we know that, so... it seems evident they'll allow Ibaka to test free agency and they may feel comfortable that his market value will not be as high as many folks think..

TBH, this is their window.

So, they have to do what they could to maximize it.

Not often you get two All-Star calibre players at the same time.

You are right that they aren't good enough to beat us in a 7 game series but they can give us a good fight which would be a good start for them. Until last season, they were kinda an irrelevant franchise. This is the first time in their franchise history where they have been this good. Got to bank on that!

Exactly.

Lowry is 30. It's the next few years or never for them. Yes they can't beat the Cavs straight up right now but you got to give yourself the best chance you can. What if LeBron isn't a top 5 player in 3 years? Unlikely, but not impossible. More likely: What if Kyrie gets hurt during the playoffs anytime in the next few years? If that happens the conference is up for grabs. Especially as LeBron gets older.

Toronto isn't getting a better chance than what they will have the next few years.

Butler has a player option I believe. So make it 2 years of control.
So THAT'S what the green highlighting on the sportrac site means... Thanks. I updated my post.

I still think you can't do that for the right to swap. That does bring the 2018 pick more in play for me though. But I think I just keep Butler.

Boston could always include their 2017 pick, right? That way the Bulls could keep their own pick and swap Boston's pick for the Nets.
To be honest I'm not sure how it works when you trade the rights to swap picks. If a team has multiple first round picks do they get to choose which pick is swapped? Is it the highest of their two picks? Is it their own? Do the Nets get any say in it? Interesting question and a quick search on the ol' google didn't yield an immediate result. Would be interesting to know though. @MoFlo ?

Ibaka is on the decline. I could care less. The Cavs are still clearly the best team in the East.

Yeah boy he's really declining at the ripe old age of 27. Are you kidding me???
Put it this way, I would of traded Tristian Thompson any day of the week to get Ibaka. What you get from Ibaka is both defense and offense.

Would anyone do this? NO and Philly need a 3rd team...

Cavs Get:
R Covington
T Frazier
Ajinca

NO Gets:
Okafor
McCrae

Philly Gets:
Shump
NO 1st

Cavs are taking on Ajinca basically to get Frazier. Frazier played well when given the opportunity. Good with dribble penetration and good at setting up others. Finished well at the rim despite his size. However, once Tyreke Evans came back his minutes disappeared. Over the past 29 or so games, he's averaging 4 mpg with 14 DNPs. Can't imagine NO is too attached to him.

**Added Bonus - Frazier has been a Warrior killer this year. Here are his 3 games against the Warriors this year.

Code:
Rk G Date Opp MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS GmSc +/-

16 7 2016-11-07 GSW 32:10 5 11 .455 1 3 .333 2 2 1.000 4 10 2 0 4 4 13 12.7 -3
17 2 2016-10-28 GSW 34:21 10 18 .556 1 3 .333 0 1 .000 6 10 0 0 3 5 21 17.0 +1

There's clearly something about him the Warriors have trouble dealing with. He can most definitely run P&R off the bench. Covington is a tough defender that can guard 2-4. Would be a perfect guy to throw on Durant. Ajinca is just a big body that can stand upright. Anything they get from him is a bonus.

76ers need to add salary and they have very little at SG. Shump give them a vet on a reasonable contract who plays a bigger position of need. They also might actually need Shump's contract down the line as a trade piece.

This is a trade that makes sense both in the short term and long-term. Adds a backup, playmaking PG and another wing with length who can defend multiple positions at a high level.

Throw in a 2nd or two to make it work if necessary.

You've been living under a rock if you really believe Ibaka is better than Tristan defensively. Because he's not. His defense has been on a sharp decline. If Ibaka isn't an elite defender, which he's not been, he's not the value he was a few years ago.

What window? There is no window they have taken a clear step back this year. For my money they're the 4th best team in the East, and that's debatable.

So you add Serve Ibaka to a non-contender and you're still a non-contender.

Now you're either paying Ibaka and Lowry max contracts and tying yourself to that trio for a long time or letting one or two of them walk for nothing at the end of the year.

This a move a team like the Spurs could make. A contender level team trying to find one more guy to put them over the hump.

But I see little reason a good but not great team should do this. If ibaka had more years left, it would make a little more sense. But this is going "all-in" for something you aren't close to achieving.

The problem is there are real concerns that he's more like...31-32...

These concerns were had by many, including the team that drafted and developed him into who he is today. There's a reason Presti literally jumped on Oladipo+Sabonis for Ibaka as soon as he could.

So I'd be pretty surprised if Henson lasts past the deadline. Another DNP-CD, the bucks are winning again, and Thon Maker is starting to eat up minutes.

Any chance Indiana would trade Young? Pretty much the absolute perfect fit on this team, both now and off the bench in the future. Shump and Jefferson works. Not sure if that, Cedi, and a pick gets it done. Likely only works if Pacers decide to trade George and punt it.

Thad young? For shump? And Cedi? And a pick?? No fucking thanks.

If we're trading shump we need to fill a glaring need like rim protector or backup PG.

Shump for Rubio would be a great fit for both teams. Rubio would work so well with the start of the second quarter lineup of Korver, Frye, Williams, and Lebron. His passing ability would compliment the shooters out there. Minnesota needs a shooting guard after the Lavine injury, and Shumpert fits the bill of a player Thibs would like.
