Trade Rumor(s)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So I saw somewhere the rumor of Boston giving up the Nets pick for Butler.

Just wanted to ask, in what world is that pick enough to land Butler on his team friendly deal? I always assumed that it would take both Nets picks to land Butler. I honestly think that is fair value.

If Boston is able to get Butler for the right to swap Nets picks this year (which should be a lot less attractive to the Bulls sans Butler, a likely lottery team themselves) then I'm going to be livid. Give up 2 36 year old guys, get 4 unprotected firsts. Give up ONE of those unprotected firsts and get a top 10 player with team control for years and in his prime

Seems fucking logical

Boston can't just absorb Butler for a pick. They'd likely have to include Johnson, Bradley, and maybe someone else to make a deal work.

Still gonna need that 2018 Brooklyn pick if I'm Chicago. Especially since Chicago's pick to swap will be a lottery pick itself (without Butler)

Imagine the Bulls trading for the right to swap picks with Brooklyn then winning the lottery with their own ping pong ball. What a disaster that'd be.

It looks like every fringe contender is trying to go all in now that they see the Cavs injured and vulnerable.

Thats a very good trade for Raptors.

PF was their major weakness in the team and Ibaka is the exact kind of PF they needed.

Someone who can stretch the floor decently, is a good defender and rim-protector to complement Jonas V in the front court. But at the same time can play as a small ball 5 when needed, especially against someone us like where Love and Frye kill them as none of their bigs had the ability to guard them.

Ibaka can guard someone like Love and Frye but at the same time stretch the floor and be that good help defender. I don't think this trade makes them take us to 7 games but I won't be surprised if we have to play a 6-game series against them.

However, this trade makes them the second best team in the East imo.

I wish we tried to trade with Orlando. Shump for Ibaka would have been a great trade for us.

I know, this is one of those trades you look at and you're like, what the fuck, why not us?

Because no way we would have paid the max for Ibaka or close to it which he would be getting in the summer.

Nets 2017 1st Round Pick + Crowder + Bradley for Butler would be a decent value tbh.

Crowder is on a great contract. So keep him. Trade Bradley away for some 1st rounder if possible. Someone like Hornets could do with a guard like Avery Bradley tbh. Even Bucks, Kings or Pelicans for that matter. Players like Avery Bradley would always have demand.

So, in the end they would get Nets 2017 1st Round Pick + Jae Crowder + Another mid-1st Rounder. Its not the best one but it would be a good start if they want to just start rebuilding.

Ibaka is on the decline. I could care less. The Cavs are still clearly the best team in the East.

That's an AMAZING trade for the Raptors.

They took a fringe player and what will be a mid-20s pick and flipped it into Serge Ibaka. Now, obviously they'll need to PAY Serge Ibaka this summer, and that's going to be tough. But I think it's a great move for them; definitely makes them the second best team in the Eastern Conference.

Damn, great time to be a Celtics fan, huh? :/

I might be able to agree but that "right to swap picks" just kills it for me.

If the Bulls make this deal I can't imagine Wade staying. Or Rondo. The entire team is gutted and their lottery chances go way up. They are assured to be a lottery team and could get pretty good odds with no Butler.

Can you even imagine if they won the lottery with their pick. Then you just traded three years of team control on Jimmy Butler for Crowder and Bradley. That is a firing offense for certain.

And even if they don't win the lottery. Let's just say for argument's sake they end up with the 8th pick. Brooklyn's pick has a 25% chance of being #1 overall. Let's just say it's #2 overall for argument's sake.

CHI receives
#2 pick
Jae Crowder
Avery Bradley

CHI sends out
#8 pick
Jimmy Butler under contract for 2 more years after this one (with a player option)

Just can't do it.

And then the 2018 1st round pick is less valuable because there isn't as much certainty with it and it's a year later so it gets discounted for the non-immediate return.

Butler has a player option I believe. So make it 2 years of control.

Boston could always include their 2017 pick, right? That way the Bulls could keep their own pick and swap Boston's pick for the Nets.

That was such a short-sighted, silly move by Toronto. You aren't winning a title this year, and you aren't paying Lowry and Ibaka next year.

Dumb.

I agree.

Ideally, I won't trade Butler as well.

What they should do is they should fire GarPax and appoint someone good.

Fire Hoiberg because he doesn't seem to have a major influence in the dressing room.

The likes of RoLo, Taj, Wade can all be good contributors to the team. Try to get a PG like George Hill or Jrue Holiday along with some 3&D forward, who can play the 3/4. Dudley from Phoenix comes to mind.
