Trade the 4th pick for...?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Chad Ford: Cavs Could Consider Moving the #4 pick For A Youngish Vet (more in thr

What that really tells us is that Ford doesn't think the Cavs aren't quite as big a fan of Kanter or V as some of us posting here are. That's kind of disappointing, because if we end up not trading out, it tells us that they aren't all that thrilled with whomever they ended up selecting.

Re: Chad Ford: Cavs Could Consider Moving the #4 pick For A Youngish Vet (more in thr

I sure hope they don't trade #4. I want to suck for a couple more years.

Re: Chad Ford: Cavs Could Consider Moving the #4 pick For A Youngish Vet (more in thr

Could be any number of guys not just the high priced ones you mentioned.
Guys who's name has been floated around
DeMar DeRozan
Brandon Jennings
OJ Mayo
Al Jefferson
Monta Ellis

Others who I haven't heard about but wouldn't be surprised if their teams are shopping
Evan Turner (Although I don't think the Cavs would want to go after him)
Gallinari

Of that list DeRozan makes me stop and think. Other than that, I'd rather see Kanter over any of the rest.

As Max posted in another thread, I think Grant is doing all of his homework early. He's looking around to guage the league's interest in certain players as well as the value of the #4 pick. I wouldn't put too much stock in this rumor until tangible details start coming out.

Re: Chad Ford: Cavs Could Consider Moving the #4 pick For A Youngish Vet (more in thr

I think the Cavaliers are just doing their due diligence by seeing what can be gained if they OFFER up the pick. IF folks are offering garbage or players you don't want (like OJ Mayo) then you just draft a kid you think will make the biggest difference.

Unless they get someone they love offered their way, i don't see us moving this pick.

Re: Chad Ford: Cavs Could Consider Moving the #4 pick For A Youngish Vet (more in thr

All these rumors are so redundant. One insider will say something and we all flip a shit. The rumor will die down by tomorrow, and we'll wait for the next rumor. So obnoxious.

Re: Chad Ford: Cavs Could Consider Moving the #4 pick For A Youngish Vet (more in thr

It's not even really a rumor...it's more rumblings of what the Cavs could do if the right offer is made...really this is much ado about nothing. Until names are involved it's just an option that's put on the table by Grant and co.

OJ MAYO.

:jerkoff:

Would you trade the #4 pick for DeMar DeRozan?

I think I would...kid is really coming into his own. Averaged 17+ PPG this season on 46% shooting. Doesn't seem to have an outside jumper yet, which can be improved upon...biiig size for a SG, great athlete. You can't teach 6'7'' for a guard.

Nicolas Batum

Nicolas Batum

That would get my attention.

Otherwise this is all about due diligence. Cavs need to find out what the pick is worth in a trade.

Re: Chad Ford: Cavs Could Consider Moving the #4 pick For A Youngish Vet (more in thr

Nope because Gay or Iggy could be had for the TPE only because there overpaid. If they were on their rookie contracts or paid quite a bit less they'd have hell of a lot more value.

I don't think Memphis would trade Gay without an asset in return.

I dont think Memphis will trade Gay at all at least not in this offseason. It also boggles the mind to think that people would believe that the 76ers would even entertain the thought of moving Turner.

DeRozen and Batum would look good in Wine and Gold. Other than that, none of these guys mentioned really interest me. They are either overpaid or underperforming.

Speaking of Derozan, Sonny Weems is the poorman's Derozan and will be a free agent. He is pretty much the only free agent I really hope the Cavs go after.

Re: Chad Ford: Cavs Could Consider Moving the #4 pick For A Youngish Vet (more in thr

They've also probably talked to a team or two that's willing to unload a pick in the teens for $3M. So if a player Grant REALLY likes happens to slip, he can call one of those teams and buy their pick. If none of the people Grant likes fall, then the deal doesn't get consummated.
Agree with your post as a whole, but I really don't see a pick in the teens being sold for just $3M. Don't think that's ever even happened.

"Doesn't seem to have an outside jumper" is an understatement. He shot 9.6% last year. 9.6%. No guard has ever shot that poorly on >50 attempts. Him becoming just an average 3pt shooter seems unlikely.

It'd really depend on what the Cavs think of Kanter/Jonas. Essentially trading a big for a small who flat out can't shoot from beyond the arc is kinda tough.
