Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I just cannot comprehend a guy being in the league for as long as he has and not having a basic 5-10 foot jumper. Like....why?! It’s not like he’s been working on other parts of his game. So why hasn’t he ever had the shot or even tried to develop it?

Maybe I’m just giving him too much credit thinking it’s possible to do it but in reality, he’s just booty and was playing well before because he had a great motor. Now he doesn’t.

My favorite was the pre-season video of him hoisting 3s, like this was to be a newly-implemented component to his game.

I'm pretty sure you could teach an 8 year old girl who has never touched a basketball in her life how to shoot an 8 foot jumper. If you practice with her every day for a year, I guarantee she could do it. I would just love to know what he has done at practice and shoot-arounds for the past 5 years. Blows my mind how he can't learn to shoot a basketball when it's his only job and has unlimited resources at his helm

I bet Tristan is able to hit shots in practice. Game situations are different, certain guys like Curry have the ability to not only shoot well but get off their shot incredibly quickly. Stands to reason that other guys have the opposite: slower reflexes/muscle memory so a shot they can make in practice becomes very hard in an actual real game

If any of us were D-ing up Tristan he'd be breaking our ankles and hitting stepback jumpers in our faces. The level of pressure in a game vs other high caliber athkefes that shrink space in a second is incomprehensible to us. 8 year old girls are getting their 8 foot shots bicycle kicked by these behemoths so let's just understand this point before we bash Tristan out of Cleveland.

That being said what a steal we got with Nance that he's literally outplaying a resurgent TT. Cuz TTs looked pretty passable the last couple weeks now and Nance is just blowing his impact out of the water.

I'd certainly hope so considering he's about 8-9 inches taller than me.

Nance's on-court loud and active on-court communication on defense is just incredible. For a guy that young to have the confidence to do that on a brand new team, on a defense he's still learning...just damn.

Entire team plays better defensively when he's out there.

LOL the next time TT crosses anyone up and hits a stepback jumper will be the first time. You can tell that most of the time he just doesn't know where the shot is going when he releases it. TTs only advantage is when he is willing to outwork opposing players.

Good point about TT. As for Nance vs TT, they’ve only played two games together. In the first game against Boston, TT had by far the bigger defensive impact. In the second game, Nance had by far the bigger impact. The nice thing is that the Cavs have two players that bring a lot of the same things that can sub out for each other and Nance has the potential to do some of those things even better than Tristan. It’s really a nice development for the Cavs.

I think Tristan should lose some weight. Whatever strength he has added is not worth the energy it says from him to jump. It should help his knees too.
