Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Am I the only one that hates TT so much that while he's in the game, hes the only player you watch? I watch him on both ends and just sit there thinking how anyone who watches him play could justify playing him over Zizic for a single reason. It's ruining the games for me cause he is all I can focus on

I'm now picturing Paul Pfeiffer in front of the TV yelling in his nerdy voice at Tristan and the coaches on the screen.

Tristan finally had a good half in the 2nd half against the Nets.

Yes- Zizic should play over him more.

Yes- His face is stupid.

But he was at least good in the 2nd half today. It's a start. We're going to likely be stuck with him playing at least sometimes, so hopefully he can play more like he did in the 2nd half tonight going forward. Was good on the glass, didn't muck up the offense as much as normal, and was able to switch onto perimeter guys effectively for the first time all year.

I really used to support him, but his inability to improve has been super disappointing

It would be different if he was playing mistake free basketball, but he isn't. He makes a lot of silly mistakes and is always too slow once a guy drives on him to the basket.

Crowder was getting in way for the most part. TT should be animal moving forward.

Tristan has been less than stellar, but the odds of him being completely out of the playoff rotation if he’s healthy are basically nil.

Hopefully he understands that there isn’t going to be many situations where he plays more than 10-15 minutes a night and he can adjust his energy level accordingly, if that player even still exists.

As far as Zizic goes... the kid is 21 years old and under team control for four more years after this one. He might want to play right now and he might even be right, but his time will come. He has more years left on his contract than any other player on the roster currently.

His face is beautiful he just sucks at basketball

We are not going to cut the guy. We are going to try to optimize whatever trade we get this summer. Look, if he grabs 10 rebounds in 15 minutes, that's better. We were playing a shitty team, so we used him.. no harm done..

I can understand the need to give the guy some minutes to get him up to whatever his maximum potential is and evaluate him after his rehab. It was the Nets.

But his maximum PT as we approach the playoffs should be 10-15 minutes max.

I hate to admit it but deep down I am hoping for a season ending injury to the guy, maybe the calf muscle tear gets aggravated just enough to sideline the bum.

I feel dirty just saying that.

You should feel dirty, because wishing an injury on a professional athlete is not humane. TT has enough problems being a Kardasian as it is. Lets think about it this way.. Is it better for the Cavs if Tristan is functioning at a high level or not? I think the answer is yes. I also think the coaching staff needs to figure out if he is willing and or able to get there this season, because this will dictate the terms of what we get when we push him out during the offseason.

I do not know what will happen during the playoffs. Zizic was doing well with PT, but hard to say they would not school him at the playoff level. I think about the clip where Curry puts Gobert in the washing machine and I wonder if Zizic could handle that better.

Not to say Tristan could, but Tristan certainly knows whats coming.

This is the thing. Do you go with experience of skill here? Zizic is much more skilled and needs to be accounted for on defense. TT certainly has the experience, but the last few meetings we have seen him simply exploited by GS.

I know what you mean by curry exploiting a big, but surely having a center in there to stop Zizic for scoring would actually work in our favor. Anytime Zaza or Mcgee has been in there, the Cavs have won the matchup.

My perspective is that defensively we have been pretty shitty most of the year, and in my opinion, defense matters most in the playoffs. James is off, JR is off, Love is off. So for the season, we have sucked balls defensively. From that perspective I think we need more defense than offense. We can score a shit ton of points, but against either GS or Houston, well they can score as much as we can. We need to be able to get stops when we need them.

This year Tristan is a -9 net (82 Games) and giving up 23.2 defensively, while Z jr is -7 net and giving up 22. Neither of these defensive numbers are particularly good. (and Love is no better). Last year Tristan was giving up 19.9, and the year before that Tristan was giving up 17.9 as a center.

So while Nance Jr and Zizic are both scoring better, I think the team would be better if Tristan can be 17.9 Tristan rather than 23.2 Tristan. We aren't going to need that for 30 minutes, but we need it for 15 minutes. That said, the fact that none of our centers are playing defense for shit MAY be a reflection on the defensive schema, so there is that.

I have nothing against playing Zizic. Just saying I understand if the staff is trying to gage what Tristan might have left in the tank.

Is it better for the Cavs if Tristan is functioning at a high level or not? I think the answer is yes.
Based on the entire 2017-18 season the answer is undoubtedly NO.

Tristan not playing equals better defense and offense for the Cavs.

I want to win a championship. Especially with Warriors being wounded and the choker Rockets seeming like our only competition.

I don't give a fuck if TT getting hurt again limits out chances of trading him in the offseason. This could very well be the last time I ever watch LBJ turn god mode in the playoffs as a Cavalier. I hope TT's entire fucking left leg falls off.
