Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To me, it's a tossup type of move because of LeBron. You do it, put the Cavs in the bonus, we take Tristan out and put LBJ at the 4 the rest of that quarter. Now you've gotta defend LeBron at power forward in the bonus.
Then they just resort to Hack-a-LeBron and have similar success.

It's like dueling Lues in here.

This is an ignorant take, even if LeBron shoots 68% the rest of the playoffs from the line, other teams would get themselves run off the floor.

Hack a LeBron would get teams run off the floor, and a bunch of unnecessary fouls, and it would destroy the transition game for the other team. If transition defense didn't exist, we would have been I think a top 10-12 defense this year even in chill mode. I'd have to check the exact half-court numbers.

the one thing though about hack a tristan is it allows both lebron and Kyrie to get a breather while still being on the court. You saw this in game 5 in the finals last yer. The warriors tried to slow down the cavs by forcing TT to the free throw line. While i think he only ended up shooting like 50%, every time he was fouled was another 90 seconds of standing rest. So when a team does it 3 or 4 times, you get the added benefit of a rested lebron without actually taking him out of the game.

I posted Tristan's 5 fTs since thumb injury. Not pretty

During the game LBJ blocked a shot and thwacked his thumb again. I assume this will happen a lot during the playoffs, so improvement probably a pipe dream until season's over.

TT was amazing during the 3rd quarter, a complete menace on the boards and had some impressive closeouts when isolated on George and Teague.

Almost finished with a double-double, with 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks while shooting over 50% from the field. That's close to what I call a perfect TT game in the playoffs.

I thought he was the only guy besides LeBron who showed up from the opening tip tonight as well. He was a monster in the first half even despite the massive defecit. He gave the team a ton of extra possessions even if they did miss most of them.

That rest really did wonders for TT. He looks rejvuenated, and the thumb doesn't seem to be a problem for him besides on the FT's.

The FT's he shot today looked a lot better(and he made one!!) too.

I'd just like to see him improve his defensive communication. I want him to become the vocal/defensive quarterback type of guy. It will help the D, where we don't communicate as much as we need to.
He's certainly a playoff player. Plan on remembering this again next year when people inevitably bitch about his contract.

We broke the Cleveland curse last year...this year we take on something even more difficult...the Kardashian curse...if we can win the title with Khloe in tow, it will be the goat feat.

Paul George was 0/4 when guarded by Tristan Thompson tonight.

This is why Tristan is worth every penny of his contract. I don't think there are five bigs in the NBA that can switch onto wings as well as he can.

Love when he makes shots in panic clock expiry situations. You're thinking 'oh boy 2 seconds left and it's still in TT's hands' then he takes initiative, says f@ck it I'll take the shot myself. My fav TT moment in the fnals last year was his crossover and pull up shot with the clock expiring. Watched it on a crap quality stream and couldn't tell if it was he or Kyrie who just did that

EVERY DAMN YEAR people say he's lost something then the postseason comes and he shows up. The reg season is an unplanned series of chaotic up and down possessions. The more methodical style of the playoffs is where his skillset really shines

TT is honestly a master in those situations. Without bothering to pull stats up, it seems to me that his aptitude for hitting clock-expiring shots is inordinately high. He even magically finds that he has a jumper in those scenarios.
