All of a sudden the Cavs' starting front line would start looking bad ass.Yes, compared to Tristan Thompson he's a freaking 4-way center!
Dude averaged 14/10 and almost 2 blocks per game AND he was under utilized.

If this is on the table, then why isn't it done already!? Highway robbery on our end. We dump 2 LBJ dependent players for a $25M expiring 2-way center to pair with KL.
Koby better pull the trigger on that ASAP!!
Edit: I see next yr is PO. But still ...Whiteside is high risk, high reward. We don't have much to lose in this scenario

I'm with @Nathan S in waiting for @priceFTW to weigh in on this, but in looking at Whiteside's advanced stats, he seems to be the kind of guy whose raw numbers are misleading. He was pretty good in 2015-16, with a BPM of 2.5 and a VORP of 2.4. But that season seems to have been an outlier. In the last two seasons, his BPM's were -0.5 and 0.2, and his VORP was 0.9 and 0.8. The season before (2014-15), -0.9 BPM, 0.3 VORP. That's pretty "meh". Looking at his advanced states honestly, he seemed to have that one career year. And that's been it.

Thompson was pretty horrendous last year -- -2.5 BPM and -0.1 VORP. But in both seasons prior to that, those numbers were 1.5 and 2.0.

The truth may be that both of those guys are on the downslope of their careers, and neither one of them is going to be a difference maker of any kind. In that case, I'd be kind of reluctant to take on Whiteside's contract if he was to give them both TT and Korver because he's owed $27M in 2019-20. That would hurt.
I have serious doubts that Whiteside will hit the high ceiling some see for him. I'd probably do the deal if it didn't include Korver, though.
I don't love Whiteside, but I hate him a lot less than I hate Tristan Thompson.Cavs probably holding out for more. See how much heat want whiteside gone. Hopefully not waiters
I would do the trade. Whiteside can be a force. Change of scenery might be all it takes
I hope the trade comes to fruition. The duration of Whiteside's contrat and TT contract are the same. The Cavs are a much better team with Whiteside in the middle.

If Whiteside and Love play 28 minutes a game, there is plenty of playing time for Nance and Zizic. Take into consideration time lost due to injury. Kover is 37 years old, no one is giving us a first round pick for him.
I agree, but I would rather Zizic sat the bench behind Whiteside than TT which I unfortunately think is going to be the case. Also, Zizic seems to end up "gassed" awfully quickly. 20 minutes may be a good starting place for him.I hope our front office believes Nance and Zizic have the potential to be more than 20 mpg bench players...

Your trading one miserable contract for another and whiteside is betterGilbert's going to consign this team to a decade-long treadmill.
He and the front office keep taking 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Hassan Whiteside is a player whose direction you look the exact opposite in. Almost 30, making nearly 30/year and whose production has declined every season. There's a reason the Heat are desperate to get out of his contract, and the Cavs of course would be the idiotic team to bail them out.
We need to be patient these next two years, develop the young guys and shed all all of the negative contracts. We could be looking at a LOT OF cap in a short amount of time, and Love + a young, talented nucleus could be enticing for an all-star caliber player looking to cash in. You either trade TT for an expiring or you play out the rest of his miserable contract; you don't trade it + other guys for an ineffective player just to satiate Gilbert's monstrous ego (and stunt the development of a stud like Zizic in the process.)
I pray this shit is just a rumor but I believe this is something Gilbert is actually trying to orchestrate. Prideful fool.
