Ty Jerome: Grand Theft Salary

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ty Jerome really doesn't have much online about him. Does anyone know his game well? Why is he not a hotter commodity?

He is almost a poor mans LeVert with a better shot and probably a bit better PG skills, but he isnt Garland playmaking wise, not even Mitchell.

He tends to get beat on defense and isnt quick enough to beat most NBA defenders off the dribble.

WHat does he do well? He can play PG and has length at 6'5. He has a very good 3 point shot and is a very good passer, he just lacks quickness to be a good pg, but should fit in well. Not bagging on him, but at 6'5 (short arms though) and his above average 3 point shooting, for what we paid he is going to have warts.

I'm surprised his assists per 100 are better than Levert and Mitchell both. 7.8 per 100 poss. That is pretty good. He also has a 4.5 assist:turnover ratio. Twice as good as Darius.

Last year was his first with a positive net rating though and the Advanced stats aren't good.

He was supposed to be a 3rd string pg, but his counting stats are really good. Looks like a good backup who takes care of the ball. It seems like there are lots of guys who are worse than Jerome who have richer deals. He has a negative wingspan, but that doesn't seem like enough for him to be so devalued.

His lack of quickness will hurt as a true pg, he really is a combo guard, but he is a good passer and takes care of the ball, just doesnt get in the paint with ease which i think is important in the modern NBA.

Having two high-usage small guards on the team hopefully allows him to work better. He can slide over to defend taller 2 guards while letting Garland or Mitchell take PGs. He can functionally play PG with Mitchell or SG with Garland.

Is amputation in play?

He’s gonna blow up as soon as the Cavs give him a role.
