I personally think Lue is a below average regular season coach. Minute management is really bad and we go through phases where we go to a playoff rotation but we "don't want to show anything"
But in last year's playoffs who outcoached him? If Lue is yet another person on this team who performs best in the playoffs then I'd rather have that than the other way around.
I agree, I could not stand him last year, until in the playoffs he showed his merit.
He also, IMO, has actually done a great job getting the best out of his players. Kyrie is having a career year. LeBron is back to playing Miami like good. Love is fitting in. That to me shows he does have some tricks up his sleeve.
It's just the defense, and his very odd and puzzling rotations, where he's reluctant to ever go off script. And sometimes, you have to, because not the same guys are going to produce the exact same results all the time.
And IMO, by the far the worst thing about Lue, and it's not even close, is his over use of LeBron.
Yeah, sure he rests him here and there on back-to-backs, but he has to because he beats him into the ground with how much he plays.
Which is another reason why I wish we'd give Derrick more of a look. He's the only guy that can fill some of the speed/athleticism we miss with LB, and Deron fills in some of the playmaking we lose.
I thought that's part of why we got these guys? Either Griffin failed, or Lue did, because playing LB this much is awful for us going forward. I'm leaning towards Lue on this though. We now have depth.
