Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Could be both , but not noting the criticism..more like both knew it wasn't working ..players know the game and I think Wade knows it as well as anyone.
What matters is that it happened fast..and not 1/3 into the season.

I always wonder how much teams use fan data to make decisions.

For example, do they use the "wisdom of the crowd"? Do they use big data from Twitter and Facebook and other networks to determine if fans dislike certain roster decisions and moves? Do they frequent forums like ours?

Because I imagine it was pretty unanimous that fans and the general public thought moving JR to the bench to start Wade was an awful decision from day 1.

I'm fine with how it played out, and letting Wade make the call. But, I can't help but wonder these other things.

To me it makes Lue look like either a puss or a shit coach. Reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons where Homer makes Bart the starting QB even though Nelson was the best option and Bart couldn't get it through Lue's head... Either way, it's kind of fucked up when the player has to tell the coach he shouldn't be starting... And I have a strong feeling if nothing was said, Wade would be in the starting lineup from now until the finals... I wonder how MirORich is going to spin this as a genius move by Lue...

Us: Lue had to hit every branch on the way down the coach tree before moving Wade to the bench.

@MirORich: At least he climbed the tree.

I just don’t think it’s ever that simple.

Lue has to also consider LeBron, as unfortunate at is. He had to at least give them the chance to re create their Miami “magic”.

Keeping LeBron happy sometimes isn’t the best move for the team in the short term or for a few regular season games.

But when you can sit down in the summer confident you did everything you could to keep him, it’s all worth it because he’s the engine of the team for better or worse.

I had no problem with him starting Wade even though I didn’t think it was going to work.

The results : we won our first two games against playoff teams.

Then we lost a back to back game that we were obviously losing no matter who was starting. Just didn’t have it that night.

So it made LeBron happy. Didn’t cost us any games. And it was such an obvious move Lue knew that Wade wouldn’t stubbornly hurt the team for a long stretch of time.

I think it’s a case of Lue understanding his team and the personalities he is dealing with. I think he was betting on Wade coming to him in the first few weeks and asking to go to the bench.

You can call him all the names you want for letting LeBrons feelings influence the lineup.

But Pat Riley went full hardass when Bron was in Miami. And all it did was push LeBron away.

I'm hoping we see positive results today. But I wonder why he wouldn't start at the 1 with JR at the 2. And I also hope he realizes Love should be a situational center like last season...
I don't get starting Calderon.

Just start TT. LeBron's gonna handle ball handling duties. That way Zizic can get mins while Rose is out. Better for him to get mins than Jose.

I'm a lot more comfortable with Calderon starting now that we've put JR in the starting lineup.

Because when Rose returns, we don't change anything with the new adjustments we made.

Moving TT to the starting lineup would make FAR too many changes.

I was extremely against starting Wade but I agree completely with this analysis. Three games is nothing. And frankly Lebron has earned some deference and respect, not just because of his skill level but because he works his ass off.

Lue has always struck me as a decent manager of personalities, and this looks like an example of that.

Is it any different than clowns like you and JMoneyYourHoney who fucking shit on Lue for even breathing?

clowns? everyone is entitled to their own opinion.. calling people clowns is unnecessary imo.

Every fanbase has fans that think differently and find flaws in their coach whether he is successful or not.
Even Spurs fans have issues with Popovich from time to time.

LOL you're such a tosser. You love playing the role of team defender #1 only to be the first to fall apart in game threads. Tool.

No, because Lue has a history. It's easy to describe and point to. Not all opinions are equally valid.

That's a fair point. Hopefully it pays off in him staying.

He deserves a lot of criticism. Does the stat of LeBron on and off the floor not alert you to that? It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see that if your team is basically -32 with LeBron off the floor, something is going wrong... And then not taking into account the fact that LeBron and Kyrie essentially had to average about 35 points per game in the finals as well as LeBron needing to go for a triple double to create an epic comeback for the cities only championship. In reality, of course we're way too hard on him since it's just basketball... But it seems like a ton of people give him all the credit in the world because he just happened to be the coach on the team when we won a championship...

I had a clean slate with him this season to start off because he was just handed the coaching job after Blatt being fired and didn't get to coach a full season. Last season he had a lot of injuries and depth issues on the roster. We have our deepest team ever even with Thomas out until whenever, so it's the real test for him. So far, I'm not in panic mode YET because it's early on in the season and we have a brand new team but I'm seeing some issues that we saw last season. The defense and bench play has been our biggest issue for a while. And we've lost the major 3 point threat we used to be... Hopefully it's just a whole team slump. I also hate the idea of Love permanently at the 5 and he doesn't seem to be yelling at guys for shitty transition defense (for the second season in a row).

He's eventually going to run out of excuses though. I'd love for Lue to be a good coach. I'm always hopeful the people who defend Lue are right... But when a team with this much talent underperforms, the blame has to fall on someone.

Fully agree.

I get wanting to go small, but why should that be the starting lineup? GS plays small all the time but their starting lineup is big with a frontcourt of KD, Green, and Pachulia.

With Rose out, I'd rather we give the starting minutes to someone like Tristan over Calderon. Backup minutes go to Zizic. Start with:

Smith
James
Crowder
Love
Thompson

This lineup has defense AND it can spread the floor for shooting.

Smith has guarded point guards numerous times since his time here (we hid Kyrie on defense lots of times).

And run a bench with Wade, Shumpert, Korver, Green, Zizic. Obviously we can mix-n-match starters with the bench. Gives Wade an opportunity to play-make off the bench, while LeBron does it with the starters. We can go small or big for stretches at a time.
